That was fantastic, Paul! I love this idea. I knew that turning a can of air upside down releases cold air, just didn't know it would release the glue temporarily. Thanks for demonstrating. Cheers! Tom

that's defo an interesting method. even though i tend to leave the shrinkwrap on if possible and just but a fresh outer sleeve around the whole thing to protect the cover from wear and tearas much as i can when i use and abuse records as a tool of my trade.
@XjunkieNL8 ай бұрын
Hi! In the past I also often just left the shrink wrap on. Nowadays more and more artist do a little extra on the sleeve. Different material, tip-on or embossed lettering. With the shrink on this really takes away something. On the other hand if the records are part of the tools, protect them the best you can :) Cheers. /Paul

as a dj they are. and some of them have seen some rough handling over the years :D @@XjunkieNL

It sometimes amazes me how much abuse a vinyl record can take. Till the moment the record slips just slightly out of your hand and is damaged. Do you still go out to DJ or have you put this on the low burner? /Paul

I normally cut them out and drop them in the sleeve, this is a great idea...nice job!

Hi Andy. I did the same thing as you for many years. Some of these hype stickers fitted the original artwork very well and it felt like a waste to store them in the sleeve. This started my journey to find a new way to save the hype sticker. Have a great weekend. Cheers. /Paul

Paul, I love the feel and touch of the shrink wrap! This was very interesting. Wow, all the way back to 1970. Well done Paul

Nah, you're just messing with me ;) Aren't most inventions done by accident. Although that's a bit extreme for this one. Always appreciate it to see you stopping by, Steve! All the best. Cheers. /Paul

That's an interesting method..thanks for showing. As a side note: i've sometimes been able to peel the hype sticker off the shrink ( slowly) and restuck to a new outer sleeve.
@XjunkieNL7 ай бұрын
Hi Rob. Thanks for the comment. I messed up or at least wrinkled some hype stickers by peeling them off. Maybe I'm not patient enough :) All the best. Cheers. /Paul
@christopherbusch2368Ай бұрын
Very cool! It looks like you used nearly a whole can of spray for a single hype sticker. That could probably get expensive. Not to sound stupid, but could I just put the shrink in the freezer and peel it off? How about using a hair dryer to warm it up and loosen the adhesive?
@XjunkieNL9 күн бұрын
Hi Chrisopher! The air needs to be really cold. At least -35 degrees. The freezer is not cold enough. Would drive the wive crazy, with the vinyl in the dishwasher and the sleeve in the freezer :) You can definitely use less spray. For the video I used a little much, just to be sure it came off easy. I have never been successful with a hair dryer. Usually the hype sticker got wrinkled or damaged. Part of the fun of using a cool spray, you are applying to shrink wrap and not the sticker. Thanks for the comment. Cheers. /Paul

Hey Jonas! Thanks! It's fun to know I could suprise you with this hack. And it is new for a vinyl guru like yourself :) When I first got the idea it took a bit of experimenting to get it right. Now it is almost foolproof. All the best. Cheers. /Paul

Hi TC. Thanks! Let me know how it went. Just as a tip, you don't have to be careful with the spray. The shrink wrap is protecting the hype sticker. Cheers. /Paul

Thanks for this one, Paul. I'll be trying this in the near future. Small question, does the temperature of the freeze spray matter? I see different version, some quite expensive. How long does a can last? Thanks for your reply but don't feel obliged. All help appreciated.
@XjunkieNL5 ай бұрын
Hi Johan. In general I would say the lower the temperature the easier it works. Also you need a shorter time to cool the sticker. Personally I go for the middle groud and use a cheaper one where the labels says it goes to minus 45 celcius (minus 50 fahrenheit). Good luck. Cheers. /Paul

Poor ozone layer. I just slowly peel them. It usually works with patience.
@andrewmajor58378 ай бұрын
Most of the canister doesn’t use the material that harms the ozone anymore to my knowledge. Not sure about the one he’s using though.
@XjunkieNL8 ай бұрын
Thank you for bringing that up, Leon. Many countries have phased out the production and sale of ozone-depleting substances in spray cans. In Europe since the late nineties if I'm correct. Hats of to you if you succeeded in peeling of those hype sticker without wrinkling them. I had no such luck. Cheers. /Paul

Hi Andrew. You are right. Because of several international agreements the production and sale of aerosol products containing ozone-depleting substances have been phased out. Thank you for raising awareness. Cheers. /Paul
