Finally getting started on this old FX to FL transformation project and before we build it we gotta tear it down! Might not be the kind of strip-tease some of you are hoping for, but it’s the only kind you’ll ever see on my channel 😉 Hope you enjoy!
And if you would like to tune in for my live Q&A tomorrow (Sunday October 22nd) then check this link to see what time we will be live in your location:
everytimezone.com/s/b3377396
I will also be doing another magazine draw, so make sure you get your name in for that by emailing me with your entry and your name on KZbin at: redrider.canada.bc@gmail.com
And, anyone who want's to send me pictures of their bikes, you can email me at:
redrider.canada.bc@gmail.com
PLEASE SEND LARGE CLEAR PHOTOS!
1080p x 1080p is the MINIMUM we can work with, so please do your best at making sure your photos are large and not blurry 🙂 And send more than one if you can as well!
Only motorcycle related emails please - sorry, but I just don't have the time to engage in personal conversations.
Thank you for your understanding.
If you DON'T want your bike highlighted in a future video showing viewers bikes then make sure to mention it in your email. Other than that, expect to see your bike in one of my videos!
If you would like my PO BOX address you can find it in the description to my channel by following this link:
www.youtube.com/@RedRiderCana...
For those of you who would like to support this channel with a donation, you can do so here: paypal.me/redridercanada?coun...

Hope you enjoy the 78 Shovelhead. I love mine, its a 78 flh that's been modified and changed many times over the years. It's getting ready to change again. To much to put in writing. (Going minimalist bobber) if it's not necessary it's gone! Good luck with your project and I can't wait to see it when you finish.

Finally waking that old Shovel up to begin it's new life. I love when old vehicles get a new breath of life returned to'em. I know you said not much fabrication is needed for it, and that's a good thing. Having y'alls shop set up the way you do makes working on projects so much more enjoyable. Sit down, scoot around turn those wrenches. You are so organized and particular on the tasks at hand. It won't be a problem when it's time to put it all back together. Loki is one tough shop supervisor lol! Keep wrenching, and hopefully riding Johnny Crash, and stay safe in your beautiful B.C.!

There is a big difference in being lazy, and working efficiently. A swivel chair at a comfortable height, with your tools handy, just means less wasted motion and being able to work longer without getting tired. Nothing lazy about that. The wedge for making it less work to remove the tires is smart. Work smarter, not harder! Looking forward to the build.

@@RedRiderCanadaBC Princess Auto sells a 2 shelf cart for $50. I use one something like it, and they are great. The plastic one for $150 is sturdier, but the $50 one would probably work good for garage use. Throw the tools, and parts, you know you're going to use on it and you only have to go back to your tool box for things you didn't foresee. Congrats on the 15k mark!

I congratulate you on the start of this project, it will be a great, beautiful motorcycle. I noticed he has a rear double wing, I adore such wings where you can fold the rear part and easily roll out the rear wheel, the only disadvantage of such a wing is that rust always forms quickly in the place where it folds. You're coughing, I hope you're not sick!? It's spring again in the south, it's so hot in the afternoon that you can walk in a T-shirt and shorts again.

They changed from the round swingarm to the square because HD went from a hydraulic drum shoe brake to a disc brake on the rear, in '73 if memory serves.

Assume nothing when building a machine, especially if your own brother did it. My bros would cause death if allowed to work on bikes, aircraft, or skateboards. No live stuff for me, no offence to you, Angel, I just don't do them at all. That is a cool bike, hope your dad can ride it.
