I used the new Takeuchi TB235-2 to dig out about 7 small stumps. This is a project that has needed done for years to be able to brush hog and clear this area of the yard. The mini excavator did great! It was much easier to remove the stumps using the mini-ex than using the John Deere front end loader with the stump bucket. This was my first operation of the Takeuchi doing a task. I'm still learning the controls and how to operate the machine. #excavator #stumps #purplecollarlife #outdoorgans

Yes it does! I can’t wait to be able to easily brush hog (and maybe eventually mow) this area. If I can get it sloped right for drainage - maybe it could be a future location for a better Woodyard! :)

Sometimes, slow and steady is fast. You make less mistakes. You did very well for the first time. I have my backhoe for 23+ years and I still take it slow. It is not something you use everyday and it takes a little bit for the muscle memory to come back when you first start digging. Having that thumb will be nice to raise firewood logs and cut them at a comfortable height compared to cutting them up on the ground. That rig has unlimited potential for so many things you can use it for. Mrs Purple Collar will eventually realize it was a great investment. I was not paid to make that statement. 😁

"I was not paid to make that statement." That made us both laugh immediately. :) Thanks for watching and the support.

Now Mrs Purple needs to keep you working on the property and not shopping while she is coaching? You have no idea how much trouble you have got me in with your new toys.

Looking good Chad it'll be second nature to you soon enough. Little tip that always seems to help is don't have the machine at to low of rpm. some people just learning try to run on a idle or just above to go slow ,it May run a little faster at higher RPM or even wide open throttle but you will find the hydraulics are smoother and work together better it's also better for the hydraulics.

Thanks for the tip! I had this on auto-throttle, with the maximum at only about 1/3 throttle. You make a great point. I should turn the maximum up and let the auto-throttle do it's thing. :)

@@PurpleCollarLife yep you got it! Those auto throttles are nice not standard on every mini unfortunately but they should be. Another thing a old timer taught me years ago is digging in dirt is like a onion just take on layer at at a time.

I had no idea that Terry Kahle sold Takeuchi. I know that he used to sell Yanmar in addition to Kubota

He has Takeuchi now. I'm not sure if he still carries Yanmar or not - but I know he recommends Takeuchi for all commercial or semi-commercial use.

good to see you putting it to use! That thumb is pretty useful! I bet you've found a ton more projects with that mini ex! My only complaint about the video is that I wish you didn't speed it up when operating it even if you were slow. Maybe have more footage of normal operating speed and less sped up. Looking forward to seeing what's next with it. edit: maybe you mentioned it and I missed it but what controls did you use? Cheers! Jason

Hi Jason - I stuck with the backhoe setting (on this machine that's labeled "G"). I didn't want everyone to have to watch the painfully slow operation. :) But in some future videos, you'll see more real-time operation. Tomorrow another video releases with another project. I do believe it's still some real-time and some time-lapse.
