Those white buttons are probably glass buttons , very common late 1800 ‘s thru early 1900’s . One way to tell is if they have whittle marks from the cooling process when they were made . Whittle marks are little imperfections on the surface of the glass .

Excellent hunt! I love the approach... dig, sift, md,, backfill. I had been wondering if you were going to just start digging. That site is like a trash dump or privy and just needs to be dug. You never know what is really there until you dig. I have been watching since season two of Stealth Diggers. Keep up the good work!

@6:50 A nail used to decorate wood. Like the brass tacks used to decorate furniture in the 1800's, these brought the, “fancy,” to wood. They were used on gates, bridges and the doorways of barns and stables. My guess would be that they were black washed to stand out against the background of the wood they were nailed to, whatever the color.

Been watching you guys since the beginnings. This has to be one of my favorite episodes! I love the idea of “excavating “ a cellar hole! I think there’s way more to learn and the potential for very interesting finds is much higher!!! Love it!! Please do more like this 😁

The lighter looking item looks like a match safe to me. A little less high tech than a lighter but served the same purpose.

You're not likely to find a lead roofing nail seal after a house fire because the lead would have melted.

I love what your doing! Makes it pretty fresh or anew. I couldn't help but be curious, since this structure completely burned, was there loss of life? I'm sure you've been asked before,🤔🤷♀️ have you ever unearthed unknown headstones or uggh, human remains? As old as some of these areas are & as poor as some folks might of been, to only be able, just to bury one of their own.🥺 I'm sure there were times or circumstances, this may or could have happened.

Really cool. It'd be interesting to know what caused the fire. There may be a historical record somewhere. a fire that big had to have been noticed by inhabitants of the area. Neat finds. You guys could be busy with that for a long time.

Old homes caught fire easily. Thach roof was a great spark catcher from a low chimney, oil lamps burning too close to the lid, sparks roll out the fireplace onto rugs. Does not take much, even in modern times.
