Күн бұрын

We are keeping ourselves busy this week with lots of odd end projects as well as digging two different graves. Here at Cornstar farms we not only farm but we also dig graves. Daddy Cornstar takes you into the shop to give you a look at the machine that we like to call "The Ground Hog."
The next day I took a nice drive over to see Pete, AKA Ag Leader Guy to discuss some future projects. You better stay turned if you would like to see what is in store ;).
Back in the shop we are focusing on getting many projects wrapped up to better prepare us for the spring season.
Before heading out to the cemetery we had to replace the ball for the truck so we could get "The Ground Hog" out to dig two graves. After a long day or rain and snow we were all glad to be back home in the warmth of the shop!
Thank you for watching!

Cole The Cornstar, aka Cole, is a 4th generation family farmer from Central Iowa who is the life force behind his family’s 1,700 acre farm. Cole promotes agriculture by filming his day-to-day adventures with his Dad (Daddy Cornstar) and brother (Cooper) on the farm. With a lot of help from Daddy Cornstar, Cole instills humor and education into his videos fit for both young adults and adults. Despite being 22-years old, Cole has an old-fashion work ethic with an innovative approach toward agricultural technology and practices. Cole's mission is to prove the American Dream is not dead and be a megaphone for agricultural education and innovation, from technological advances in farming equipment to conservation practices.

true but when you meet rocks on the way down it can be hard to keep perfect .........here the neighbours dig the grave all done by hand ........fresh grave can be easy or hard depends where you have to go .........grave thats dug before is easy as long as the one right beside is dug square to the one you are working on , sometimes its not thats when it gets interesting ......graveyard nearest to me is very old on top of a hill and soil dept varies from 20" to about 3ft at best , after that its solid limestone , and i mean solid ..........older graves have large limestone slabs to cover the graves after ...............

someone needs to get their OCD under control. i used to work with a guy like that. all his clocks in his home used to have to be all synchronized to the same exact time it took him a lot of time to achieve it. so every month or so i used to swing by his place when he was gone and flip his main breaker off and then back on, on his panel just to feed his OCD a little. he never did catch on to that.

I remember when I was a teenager. Digging a grave for a dear friend at a rural cemetery. The date was in late January, it was -28 degrees F. And that ground was frozen for 3 feet down. It took 2 adults myself and a bunch of picks and bars and shovels to do it. I wouldn't want to do that again.

Back when my Grandfather helped dig graves at his church during the winter, and I'm guessing this would've been around 1900, they would build a fire over the area that they would have to dig to draw the frost out of the ground. I don't suppose you would of ever had to do that! May the Good Lord Bless you for the work you do for your area churches!

I love your rivalry over the air hoses lol. Around here, in upstate NY, I don't know of any cemeteries that dig in the winter. When there is a death after a certain time, funeral homes hold the funeral service, but the bodies are held until spring and then there is a second burial service. I like your way better, as it gets things taken care of asap and the grieving and healing seems like it would be less painful. Thank you for all you do.

Suggestion on digging in frozen ground if you have a few days (Week is best.) First Clear the snow / ice second put down a roll of Isolation double it up if you can. A little larger then the digging area third Place a plastic sheet over it (two if it's really cold) Cemetery you could use a nicer air tight box of some kind. fourth Hold it down with some rocks or something. Fifth Come back in a few days to a week. The ground should be just above frozen. The reason is it's the atmosphere that freezes the ground. The ground near sea level is around 57 deg F everyplace on the planet including Antarctica. The higher the altitude the colder the natural temperature of the earth

Pallet Rack is your friend. Get as much height as you can, helps get stuff off the floor. I have a bunch and really like it. Larsen Farms added some recently.

Dear Pete, I bought an Incommand 1200 and OnTrac 2, and my dealer didn't hook me up with those awesome AgLeader Carhartt hoodies! I gladly would have done some "free" advertising! Also Cole, love the hat design, can't wait!
