The first knife you made should be on display on your wall. It's part of your history.

I have a couple 5 gallon buckets and totes like that! Drives my wife crazy but she does like when she says “I wish we had such and such” and I go crack a bin open and there it is 😂

Loved it! Have had lots of camping and preps for many years. Especially loved the old 35mm film cans. Had many of those with matches and strikers and others with lint or other tinder. : )

Thank you! Yeah they are super handy containers for sure👍

I have a friend that buys old cameras from thrift stores. Sometimes they have old film in them, Here will develop the film to see what stories the camera will tell.

Oh that’s so cool! I bet that would be a blast to see a camera like that with a roll of film on it. That’s cool!👍

That once happened to me with a russion camera on a flea market. The film develloped very low-contrasty and with strong rainbow-like color patterns, but we were able to reconstruct a family's journey, DECADES ago! That was incredible, like a time travellers trip.

Its kind of interesting to see what people carry in terms of this stuff, back when I'd run around in the bush 35 years ago it was really simple, there's a lot of stuff though you just didn't need in Australia like axes and saws as there's always fallen timber. Maps and compass was always worth it if you're good at landnav, which frankly I'm a fan of because sometimes it really just does come down to which way is north, south and is that going to get you out of trouble. Being a country kid we all sort of ended up with just a lot of basic survival skills anyway as part of growing up and going through scouts, not sure how it is now but they were very good at making you ready for nearly anything. Billy can, pocket knife, wool blanket, snakebite bandage, water purification tablets, canteen, matches and off I'd go for 4 days at a time just living off the land. Always a good idea to have a mate though because just in case you screwed up super bad there's someone to help out and as much as there's a huge independent streak which some people find comforting- working with others, having a 2nd set of eyes, brain that thinks differently to problem solving and you know well is often the best prep. Also known as making friends with people who aren't dumb :)

Hello Jeremy. I always for at least the last 15 years carry a flashlight and a swiss army knife at minimum. The knife alone for at least 30 years. I have a box of stuff like that too. Lol. All the best.

Right on. I use my flashlight almost everyday. All the best to you too! Cheers👍

Jeremy have you ever considered investing into some good binoculars? Like $400-ish.

I do have a decent set in my hunting gear. These were old ones and because they still focus I’ve just kept them around. 👍

@@jeremygoertz Very cool. I was amazed when I got a pair and how much you could see and plan a way across terrain. Love the videos, please be well. Thank you.

Having been attacked and bitten hard on my ankle/shin by a large dog while riding a bike, I can understand why you'd want to carry something to defend yourself. I still have the scars from that incident. I've never thought of using a baton. I usually don't ride in town all that often - usually drive up in the hills and park my SUV and go from there and so I carry a pistol and/or bear spray for bears and mountain lions. I have heard of people using spray bottles of ammonia to spray in the dog's face as well. Don't know how effective that is.

Oh yeah that sucks. I’ve been chased a few times too but never yet bitten. But man that would be brutal. Interesting idea with the ammonia. 👍

I know some people call this crazy, but your “old” prepper gear could very likely become suddenly active and useful. These have been the days when I hope I’m way wrong.
@jeremygoertz3 жыл бұрын
That’s exactly right. I have quite a bit more than this but these are like the left-overs. At the start of the “pandemic” folks sure were giving second thought to preppers being crazy 👍

@@jeremygoertz You’re absolutely correct. Even with all of the crazy of late.... still about staying well ahead of the curve!👍🏽👍🏽
