What I love about kohler is their lifetime fixture warranty, we had a kitchen faucet die after 15 years of owning it, first they sent us the piece to fix it but it wasn't enough, so then they sent us the money to replace it (double the value of the original faucet) so we could buy a nicer new kohler faucet! Same with a bathroom faucet that had a leak, they sent me the replacement part for free to replace a cartridge and fix the leak.

@@xomacennavlogs same with Schlage brand door handles and locks, after 20+ years the front door handle broke, I looked up to see if they had a warranty and they sent me out a brand new handle/lockset for free without even showing the original receipt! After these experiences I try to always choose brands with lifetime warranties if it’s possible. Fiskars is another one!

Since the windows are what seem to be holding up the plasterboard, I think I would take the frames to someone who can also cut and install the glass. Then you can install them and be done with it.

Ha! Fellow Canadian here, too, and I felt the same. My first thought when she was trying to remember what went on the concrete was “oil tank?” Lol. Aside from an AC unit, it’s the only thing I can see living outside in our weather. 😂

Also, having spent a summer in Texas, I prefer Canadian weather. We might have it freezing cold in the winter but you can bundle up and still have fun outdoors (most days), and a lot of the best outdoor activities in winter keep you nice and warm anyways (skating, skiing, snowshoeing, etc,). Once you’re down to shorts and a tank top, there’s not much else you can do to be cool on a stinking hot Texas day, so unless you’re in a pool, there’s not much fun to be had out of doors. I spent way more of that summer inside in the AC than I’ve ever spent inside during a Canadian winter.

The front yard area feels significantly larger! It kinda feels like you didn’t need to move the house back after all. If you did all that bit grassy with some small pavers to the front porch steps, and just a small side drive, it would be lovely.

Love your plan for brick pavers! That is going to look so lovely going up to the house! If you have a ditch out front, I see people do the brick arch where the ditch runs under the drive and it always adds so much curb appeal! I would love to do pavers myself, maybe I’ll get adventurous after you teach me how haha!

Pavers are also so much more eco friendly. They allow water to drain into the aquifer that supplies water to cities between n San Antonio and Austin ad well as parts of the hill country. Water is a precious and expensive commodity here in south central Texas.

It's all coming together now MaCenna. Once the porch is done then it will be almost there. You have worked so hard to renovate the windows so that once the glass is installed then they will be fine for fitting. I'm so pleased your dad has taken all the concrete slabs to FoxRun to use there. I am in the UK but having never flown I will not be able to visit you to see first hand what house will look like. I will watch with interest all the finishing touches and enjoy your never lacking enthusiasm and the joy of your Mama pulling her face when you pick something up and SHE WANTS IT lol.
