I still say that the third guest cottage should be a little thrift shop. Your guests could enjoy it and you could also sell things online. Also, I once saw a large silver platter like yours and they painted just the center with blackboard paint and hung it vertically with their daily menu on it.

The Grandmother Book…. My grandmother, most commonly referred to as Nanny, just passed away 2 months ago. She had that identical Grandmother book and has been writing in it for years. It is now one of my most cherished pieces of hers. Watching your videos week after week, and seeing this pop up on your video today out of the blue, after a tough week missing her, felt like a a sign from my Nanny. What a wonderful find❤️

Every time you buy a crocheted piece it makes my heart happy. My mom is an expert at crochet. she's been doing it since she was a teenager (she taught herself) and I cannot tell you how many slippers, blankets, scarves, sweaters, etc our family has received over the years from her loving (now arthritic) hands. I cherish those handmade, beautiful treasures. So glad to see you have great respect for them too!

Hi. I don't usually comment much on videos, but I just had to today. I thought it was so sweet how you were drawn to the Circus letter. You see, I used to work for Ringling Brothers in their final years as one of their cooks on the train and at the arenas. It was a once in lifetime opportunity that gave me some of my favorite memories. I have friends and family who worked for the show back in the 80's as well. After getting to talk with generations of Ringling show folk it seems to me that the through line for everyone is that they wanted to bring joy, happiness, curiosity, inspiration, and laughter to the communities they visited. It warms my heart to hear how someone wrote about their experience with the show so many years ago, and how it continues to bring happiness to someone new, even once removed, many years later. Thank you so much for sharing!

I have to tell you how much I love yours and your mama's relationship 💖 It reminds me so much of mine with my mommy. I lost her 5 years ago and it almost hurts to watch you two together because it reminds so much of the way we were. We loved shopping...any kind, but especially thrifting!! We also laughed a lot...just like y'all. She passed at 65, I was 50. You are never old enough to lose you mom. My grandma had that blanket! always fought for it for nap time as a kid. Apparently it was a blanket she kept in the car when my mom was growing up too. Instantly brought back to that when I saw this!

That letter is adorable! I used to take my kids down to the end of our street to watch the circus animals walk by on there way to the venue. Then when the circus was over we would walk down the road and watch them load on the train. Such fun and sweet memories not many people/kids got to experience.

The glass and brass stars that you found are called Moravian stars and are VERY popular in upstate North Carolina! $40 is a great price for those pretties! Most people hang them on their front porch over the front door in the winter.

I was very jealous when I saw them. I have made a ceiling light for over our staircase from three of them. I bought them all second hand, I could only get ones with slight damage and I think they were about £30/£40 each (roughly $40-$55) so $40 was a great price. The larger ones are ridiculously expensive in the UK.

Love the sepia /vintage looking painting! Also for the rattan hanger I would do a hanging planter against the wall or a ladder. I have sth similar too. I am also obsessed with brass copper tone stuff and on past count have 5 copper and brass teapot/ketter which I use as planters or just hanging off from my peg rail:)

Awesome that you found and purchased an old letter. Once, over 20 years ago, I came across a thrift shop in Pasadena that I absolutely LOVED. I found old postcards there that I couldn't resist buying. Being Native American, I found it funny that this one had an "Indian" on the front and the back read " We saw some Indians today", maybe it was a rarity back then, but we're everywhere now. ;) Loved the share, thank you!

Clear pots aren't such a great idea though. If more light has access to the soil the quicker it dries up and causes over watering. That's why plant pots aren't transparent.

@@Jessa8891 I think it can depend on the individual plant. Epiphytes, like orchids, are fine in clear pots because they normally grow in the air. But it could be be an issue for some other plants whose roots don't normally see the sun.

Such good finds MaCenna! I think that the last basket you showed ( the one that looks like a shelf) is an old rice and vegetable strainer! You can actually wash your vegetables in there and the water goes away through the basket holes. I really enjoyed your thrift adventure! I love your videos ❤

I LOVE the silver tray!! I use them and layer them. For example, I have a silver tray, then a round sterling silver pedestal tray on that. Then added a uranium fleur de lis serving tray into the silver pedestal tray. It sits on top of my jewelry armoire cabinet which I've placed my pearls, cameo's, uranium jewelry, and mourning broaches. HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!

That was quite a "shopping trip",wow! I like the knitted/crocheted plaid, it is really pretty. Your spoonrest is actually a kind of coaster for the teapot/coffeepot. In the olden times most teasets or coffee services had one in the matching pattern.

My dad has curved wood for Grand Design builds and he told me that the trick was to use the sun's heat to help bend soaked wood. Now that was obviously bigger wood than a chair but maybe there's something in that..? There's an artist here in the UK called Tom Raffield who creates furniture by steaming wood. If you ever want to see it when you come to the UK he's got a little show house at his grand design home, (this may have moved as I took my dad few years back), where you can see a lot of his work. (He's based in Cornwall so obviously somewhere you should visit!) You can also go into Seasalt stores and the country and they are decked out with his work.

In Japan the dishes are all different patterns. Since I lived there I've stopped using matching china though I still go with a compatible pallet. It makes for a more interesting meal.
