They didn't "change" his evolutions, they simply gave this Agumon an alternate line. Digimon don't have fixed evolution lines, just look at the card game or the v-pets to see how crazy they can get.

Honestly, Digimon Savers is very unique and also very traditional. Adventure introduced Digimon, the concept about the Digital World, and the evolutions. Adventure 02 showed us Armor evolutions and DNA/Fusions as well as two human antagonist that eventually become good.

tbh this is my fav digimon series, the most epic scene in the entire digimon series when shinegreymon evolves into burst mode the first time, also this is the only season that brings almost every royal knight

Ah Savers! You were a slow starter but once I hit ep 12, I couldn't get enough. Kurata is among the best Digimon villains second only to Lucemon and DarkKnightmon. The music was top notch, BELIEVER AND HIRARI FTW. The battles were good, the Digimon designs were good and really how can you call a season that had all the Royal Knights in it (well except Alphamon for obvious reasons). Belphemon made for a surprisingly good battle was on the edge of my seat. RAVEMON AND BURST MODE FTW. That is all.
