Gatomon doesn't trigger its effect if trashed from sec, because it's played from trash. Gatomon does see itself exit security when digivolving with bt14 patamon or when played from security with something like mastemon. There is a ruling about this in the wiki.

Ive read and heard it actually does see itself when trashed as crazy as that sounds. “This has been confirmed by the games 0 level judge” Trying to dig deeper to find out the actual answer.

It sees itself go straight from security to the battle area and will trigger off that because it is present in the battle area during the action of security being removed, because she is the thing being removed. If she is trashed from security she is sent to Trash and her ability activates there and then goes from trash to battle area. She was not in the battle area during the time that a card was being removed from security, she was in the trash.

@@VortexTCGyou get the memory if you use Patamon to Digi into Gatomon. Over all it’s two memory (one from Patamon and one from Gatomon).

In game 2 at 8:05, the play would be to digi into Hel, End of Turn triggers. Plays Eiji out first, triggering the inherits of looga and loogar to gain 2 memory. Ruling is eot is still triggered for hel so it deletes still. He could return the looga from that deleted stack, instead of the sub optimal looga, then proceed to trash up to 3 from effect. Then those analog youths would have put him back to 3.
