Rick are the newer sleds as prone to breaking the piston skirts as say sleds back mid to late 2000s? The odd gulp of snow making its way past the air box? Are you doing a more thorough video of the rebuild? Tips/tricks on what to lookout for during assembly. Gaping rings, cleaning that dome up, wrist pin clip tricks etc?

I am new to the channel. Great content. 👌. I am still running a 2015 cat. I took my friends 2018 mountain cat out for a ride. Loved it. I have been looking but it seems all the cat mountain sleds are alphas now. I am not really sold on them. What’s your opinion on the alpha?

I’m just giving my 18 ctec 800 a good check over after the season. One thing I’m a bit concerned about is that when I reach through the exhaust port I can wiggle the piston side to side a little more than what I think it should. Maybe close to .5 of a mm Have you ever checked for slop between the piston and cylinder by doing this and if so do you think that is too much movement. Thanks

Sounds like its time for piston and rings !

How many miles on motor
@jarrodleis4046 Жыл бұрын
@@DIGIT9 I have 12k on it but it runs perfectly and I always run about 100/1 premix + the injection oil… Looking in the exhaust port with the manifold off everything looked good. The Teflon is worn away from the skirt area of the piston but I was told that’s normal. I wish one of my riding buddy’s had a low mile ctec that I could compare to but all my buddies are running 850’s or four strokes. Probably have to bite the bullet and drop a grand off at the cat dealer for a new set of oem pistons…

@@Ryan-vo3rm Consumer Affairs>> 107 Arctic Cat reviews 1 and a half star rating. Problems I have witnessed. Decals that fall off, paint chipping peeling off in the first year, bad oil caps leading to engine failure, windshields that pop off, idler wheels peeling or shreading, clutches sticking, reverse not working, kicking in at speed blowing up not dissengaging, fuel gauges not working, headlight pointed to sky from factory, displays fogging, wont go into forward gear, key hole freezing, eating belts, tunnels splitting at mid seam, sway bar links hitting belly + walking, bad thumb warmers, fuel gauge read way off, hot foot on right side, melted plastics near exhaust, clutch alignment way off, bad coolant caps, panels that don't fit, bulkheads cracking, clutch rubbing on foam, panel tabs deformed from heat, oil lines not purged by dealer resulting in many blown engines, filler neck cracks, chaincase/driveshaft problems, flat spotted rollers in clutch, bad turbos, broken shock brackets, plugged roll over valves. That is just the newer ones, I could go on and on about the older ones too. I have pulled over 100 Cats home over the years, more than all other brands combined.
