Whatever you do, please don't use dry pasta as a pen in replacement. This can ruin your tablet, pen, and it can break inside your pen, canceling out your pen. They really aren't too expensive to buy more of and they all it into all the pens. Be smart when taking care of your stuff!!

The first point is a really good one. I started out with a Wacom Intous Art Small Tablet for around $60.00 Then move to a Wacom Intous Pro las November. About four Months Later A good friend and artist sold me his Cintiq 13HD for around 1/2 price because he literally never used it. (Box was still sealed) And Tomorrow I'm Buying Cintiq 27QHD Touch. It's a pretty fast progression but the point is that if I went with a 27QHD touch and it's stand straight off that is almost a $3K investment for something that I might not have ever used beyond playing around with it. If I decided that it wasn't for me then I would really much prefer loosing $60 over $3000.00

Just recently I switched my art program to FireAlpaca and I've gotta say I love it so far. Getting used to a new artprogram is a real pain in the ass though, especially since I've been using GIMP for years, until last week where it didn't wanna work properly anymore (I blame the new Windows update). I'm glad that you make these tutorials, it makes it a lot easier. As for my drawing tablet, it's small but it works just fine for me and it didn't take that long to get used to it, especially since I used to color my so called art (like oh my god it was so bad 2 years ago XD) with a mouse before I got my drawing tablet. At first I did think that digital art's easier than traditional but it's just as hard to do, I for myself find digital inking/lineart harder to do than traditional inking/lineart for example. But yeah, thanks for these tutorials, they're really helpful.

taekmyhand You could! Paint.Net has a curve tool, use that tool to make lines! I say sketch it on a paper, take a photo of it and send it to your computer and then use the curve tool to make the lines!

I drew my first dugital art with a samsung tablet and it worked pretty well. If you're looking for a drawing app, I would recommend trying infinite painter. Edit: I ALSO USE MY FINGERS UP TO NOW BUT I DON'T RECOMMEND BECAUSE FRICTION.

Cheaper way to start digital: sketch in pencil....SCAN it or cel phone pic...then colour it. Also, I started with a large tablet (11x17) then went to small and hated hated hated it! I went back to a 11x17 (large) Wacom and its a joy!!!

Well there's also huion which is another great tablet "producer" and depending on ebay anywhere from 380-600 for "screen tablets" and pretty cheap for "lap/desk tablets"..I'd say i prefer drawing on a screen tablet since i've found it much more difficult not drawing directly on a screen. (The screen tablets by huion that i've tried with friends where the 190GT and 220GT)

Eyebrowa OwO Yeah i have never used an ipad for drawing but i've used the huions 190 and 220GT and their great i will say i had trouble setting the 190 up for the first time (i had to do it because my friends are incapable of doing simple things) but it's ostly my fault due to me not installing the drivers correctly. I have yet to "really" try a wacom or the "lap/desk" tablets either.

Thank you so much for the tutorial! I'll admit, I've never even STARTED doing digital art at all but have watched lots of videos on it, and I would recommend get a drawing tablet with a screen. XD The pad/watchamacallit that you use has to be hard, even if it's cheap. I'm saving money and plan to get a $240 tablet with a screen, 10.1". is it pronounced "wah-com" or "way-com" ?? xD ALSO If you really wanna start out but you're still unsure if digital art is for you (or if the cost of a wacom is too hard to swallow), go buy a wacom alternative, at like, half the price! Huion makes pretty darn decent tablets!! Like, seriously! I think the only thing you're sacrificing by going with Huion is two-finger touch controls, cuz as far as I know, other than that some of their tablets are identical. .....and ALSO (cont'd) you can download free drawing apps for basically any touch screen device you own, like your phone or tablet. Especially tablet (the bigger the screen, the better). Even on a 3DS there's this pretty darn good drawing program called "Colors! 3D" !! That was my intro into digital art, actually. It's super intuitive to use and only costs a few bucks. But, like, who would have known! Now you know! So gogogogo! Digital art can be SO much more accessible than you might assume!! :^D

I don't know why, but for me FireAlpaca messed with my pen really badly. It drew when the pen wasnt even on the tablet and the pressure was was. As soon as I opened Mischief, it worked totally fine though. Any troubleshooting tips?

+Lexy Turner Just do what ever you feel looks best! c: in my experience while growing up, I would pull up an image made by another artist and draw it, NEVER TRACE! 😅 From this I would see where I should curve in some features such as hair, eyes, or body curves. Don't be afraid to use reference when you're trying to make your own fan art too. Drawing is a wonderful skill to have ^\\^ 💕 especially when developing your own style.

What I actually really hate to see in this kinda videos, is when they say you need a tablet. You don't. Sure, it'll be easier and help you level up, but you can do great things with a mouse! I did for a really long time. I couldn't afford a tablet, and even now, I had to save a long time to get it. it's not necessary, just something that's nice to have. You can do great things with a mouse. A lot of people seem to think you can't, but trust me, you can. the videos, on for example +3eSsOo 's and my channels, prove that. Don't give up if you can't have a tablet. You don't need one, you can be amazing just as much without one. I hate when videos like this make people think if they can't afford a tablet they can't do art.

Mouses don't have pressure sensitivity and it takes a LOT longer to draw something decent with them. I know, I tried for a while. I don't see much point in doing digital art if you don't have a tablet. It'd be a lot better, and easier, just to continue drawing traditionally. And whilst you can definitely create art with a mouse, someone with a tablet and the same level of skill in drawing will be able to create the same thing faster, and perhaps even better because it's a lot easier with pressure sensitivity. Plus, you can get a tablet for $50.

+Gama Twilit I got the cheapest tablet that was compatible with my laptop. it was 160$. and if your family is anything like mine, you don't have an extra 50 bucks to just buy a tablet. and who cares how long it takes? medibang is also good! the controls need a little bit of getting used to.. but its worth it! but I draw on like a tab.. like an android tab.. and i dont use any like stylus or anything.. and.. so far I think its great! Id recommend it! (I basically start only with an app, no buying aquipment at all, my tablet is already used before) even though its irritating, and sketches took like 30 minutes, plus you have to trace it which is also 30 minutes and after that coloring is like another 1 hour and even though its not the best art, but.. Im enjoying it! I found it quite relaxing!

Something else I can say is that your equipment can make a big difference. A Wacom One seems to do well on computer for me, though I also draw on mobile (though not well.) A mismatched stylus and phone can be one particular source of frustration in that it will be all over the place compared to where you actually put your nib, especially on diagonal lines.

Heyyy Sup well i don't think it's that bad tho, if you can affort a cintiq then i'd suggest you to buy one, otherwise generic tablets are just as fine imo :)ipads are not designed to draw on them, they don't have enouth grip it's like drawing on your phone with a finger xD
