I always thought "SP/DIFF" was an abreviation of "Sony-Philips Digital Interface".

It is. But with only 1 F. Toslink = Toshiba optical link. Toshiba had to make their own because they couldn't make a deal with Sony/Phillips.

I²S not even mentioned? I guess it's not standardized, but regardless of if you are using a HDMI connector or a RJ45 connector it tends to be the best of all digital connections, if available.

Its a mess. When it first came out in the 90's, it was a din style connector. Now that its back for a 2nd time, you have to buy the rights from PS Audio if you want to include it as a feature. Its probably expensive to buy the rights,

I’m sorry but especially for digital signals you don’t need a “better cable” We send information in these things called bits and there are algorithms to get out any false signals that might occur due to interference. The signal delivered on the other end will be exactly the same, just like copying a file onto a usb.

OMG! 10 mins of waffle! Meanwhile my doctor slips on his glove and does a DIGITAL rectal exam on me. My Ali toslink has arrived and the soundbar no longer takes time to pair!
