I like it, I read somewhere that things really changed by the early 80's, and this was not for the better as it was the idea I got from it. You always have interesting items up for show here. Thank you for this.

My cousin had one of those, many many years ago. Very cool. The added features are really great. 📻🙂

I agree, it's a very cool clock! I wonder if he still has his. Honestly, it should have come with the seconds feature, in my opinion.

@@50sTransistorRadios My cousin had it on top of his Bang & Olufsen stereo [ which had no buttons -all heat-seeking. You put your finger on a certain place , and it would register the heat from your finger. VERY high tech back in the 1970’s]. - I very seriously doubt he still has it - or the stereo. - haven’t seen him in decades. - But that’s why I remember it so well. - it looked natural on that stereo. 📻🙂

I wouldnt mind having a clock like that by my bed. I remember 1977 well, graduated from high school then. Hard for me to think about 1977 being vintage. I guess I am just getting old!

Time flies! I'm a bit younger than you, but it's weird to think of stuff from my youth as vintage too, like the original GameBoy, but that's over 30 years old now!

Very good score! Looks great. I may eventually go for a tubular clock we talked about.

Thanks Jim, and it's good to hear from you again! It's a bit of a long story with that second tubular clock, but after you initially passed on it, I ended up trying to fix it up for my brother, and that was all going great until the super glue fumes ended up clouding up the blue filter of the display pretty badly!

Thanks, Jack! The brightness mod should preserve the life of the VFD a bit.

Looks like one of your nicest clocks. Perhaps a bit of a pain to assemble it though.
@50sTransistorRadios3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! There can be beauty in simplicity, and this clock demonstrates that very well. Assembling it is a bit tricky yeah, but taking it apart again is harder, as it's glued together!

Definitely a little different to the regular boxy style. Very attractive. You said that you had been wanting one of these for a while. My question is, how do you even know that things like this exist?
@50sTransistorRadios3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Colin, I agree! I found out about it from an old Radio-Electronics article from 1976 that reviewed a bunch of clock kits. Information on these old clocks is hard to find, and magazine archives are one of the only places.

I like your clocks. How many do actually keep plugged in regularly? Changing back-and-forth from DST must be a real chore!
@50sTransistorRadios3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Dan! I have about a dozen plugged in at any given time, and yeah changing then for DST is can be a bit of a pain.
