Hey, if you're just starting with all of this, I totally recommend using Dakboard for the software first! The software for Magic Mirror can be a little daunting at first, but you can spend a lot of time learning it after you get Dakboard working :) Also make sure to get help for the other parts too, if you have any uncertainties! Wishing you good luck if you decide to try it!

I know this is an old vid but want to give props for a great build and awesome tutorial. One take away, NEVER USE A DRILL/DRIVER TO INSTALL MOUNTS TO A TV/MONITOR. You should always hand screw them as the drivers have too much uncontrollable torque and you'll end up cracking the case, screen, or even the control board of your display.
@CKTDanny
@CKTDanny 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! 😁 It's true; drills/drivers can be deceiving in how much torque they are actually applying. I'll be more mindful about this and how I present it in the future! :)

One question: to save power on leaving the screen on all day long, any suggestions for a pir controller to turn the screen on when it detects motion (and off after a period of time)? Hey, thanks! You can actually use a module that executes this function for you. There seem to be a few options so you can pick one depending on your need but the simplest ones seem to cut the output signal which puts your tv/monitor to sleep. Or CEC control over HDMI seems pretty elegant too :)

Hey, I think it should be possible to develop a module for anything that can be displayed in a web browser, since this runs on the Electron framework. And that's if there isn't already an existing module for that purpose!

Question: I followed your coding on #github for the MMM-WifiPassword and its not showing up. Nothing seems to be throwing errors in the config.js. How would I go about diagnosing the issue?

Hey, sorry to hear that! Did you install the MMM-WifiPassword module too? This doesn't come with the default MM installation because it's a third-party module. There's a section in the docs for 3rd party modules

Hey, make sure you have properly configured the module per their documentation (including registering for your own key/token). As far as I know, the module is a little buggy too, due to the Alpha Vantage API. Maybe there will be a better module someday!

Do you need a subscription fee for Raspberry pi or MagicMirror? Is there a way to setup a digital display with similar features for a one time cost? - Thanks and nice video!
@CKTDanny
@CKTDanny 4 жыл бұрын
Nope - the Raspberry Pi & Magic Mirror are open source and free! It takes some work to get it all running smoothly but you won't have to pay for anything but the hardware If you decide to go with the Dakboard approach, then you will have yo pay to unlock premium features. However, that's not the focus of this video :)

Hey! The config files for this video is on my Github, link in description. It might be a little outdated, I recall there were a few modules that have been replaced by MMM since. I've also stopped using some of the modules since then, such as the stock tracker (it always lagged a day behind) so I don't really have a version of the entire installation to share with you unfortunately. Is there something specific you're looking for? I can do my best to answer any questions relating to what I did in the vid!

I really appreciate for your help. What I need are - picture wallpaper - google assistant - youtube mirroring - QR code wifi info And how did you changed module’s fixed coordination? I can't find out how to edit the position of them. They are all fixed in (kind of "bottom_bar")😂
@CKTDanny
@CKTDanny 2 жыл бұрын
@@jeesookim2561 I actually didn't do much in modifying the positions of the existing modules! The new modules are sort of just placed in the recommended positions, you can see everything here: github.com/41Danny1/KitchenDashConfig/blob/main/config.js For the modules that I custom installed, you can just Google them (e.g. MMM-Wallpaper) and find their repositories that way; they all have simple instructions on how to install them, as well as their recommended configurations. The weather modules I have in that config file are no longer in service, I believe - so pay no attention to those. And the ones I stopped using are MMM-AVStock, MMM-Bring, and MMM-Screencast. Screencast is the one responsible for YT mirroring but I didn't have great performance on my Pi (maybe it's gotten better since?) MMM-Wallpaper is for the wallpapers and MMM-WiFi is for the QR. Finally; though I haven't used it myself, I believe MMM-GoogleAssistant should get you the Google Assistant on the mirror. Sorry it's a lot to read...I hope it helps! 😄
