Callie Seattle lol i don't see the connection sorry. Everyone has flaws that make them look stupid in a certain situation, i don't think that is relavant here. A lot of people on the internet doesn't have even basic education so i think its quite impossible to expect that people would use grammar correctly. Im from Europe and english is my second language, Im not particulary good at it, but at this point its not my priority to improve it. He was making a point that being excited about things that will litteraly destroy the humanity and its core identity is stupid or in my words rather delusional. And honestly i agree with that, i don't agree or think the guy talking is stupid, that would be a misrepresentation of reality but he sure doesn't seem to grasp the big picture where we are really going economicaly or as a society..

Alexander Irvine no i really don't its just the things i view as negative. I've yet to change my opinion on vr technology, AI, cashless society... as of now i think even tho what he is doing is admirable and great, i think its not a priority as we/they present it over and over again. All these things will bring great distress to probably everyone so why not start talking about the big picture rather than just obsessing over vr and the "good" side of all this. But i was trying to say that people should rather focus on physical reality because that is what it all is and is about. And cancer, it was just random as cancer can be hehe, i don't want to talk about that as i don't think i have enough info to properly form my opinion on how are we doing on that at all.

@@AM-fh7ek VR can be used to treat mental health problems such as PTSD and phobias. I don't see why this couldn't be used in the medical field as well. Also, developing any technology often benefits other fields also. Just look at medicine where a lot of the discoveries have been accidental.

The manufacturer of the inertial motion capture suit is the Dutch company Xsens. The technology uses gyros to measure rotations of the human body. Accelerometers are used to measure linear displacemens. Rotations and linear displacements are mapped onto that 3D human model. The limitation of it is it suffers from data drifts in the long run due to the parts' physical properties. The manufacturer of the face capture system is the American company Faceware. Human face models in the library are called in real time to match the real person's facial expressions. Both tools are in the genre of VR/simulation/motion capture technology.

If anyone wants to have a play with something similar to the facial part of this, Face-Over-IP (FOIP) is built into Star Citizen. It isn't perfect by any means (or even as good as this), but you can use your ordinary webcam and don't need the training or head rig this guy has, either. And yes, it maps your facial motions onto whatever character you made. You don't need to spend anything, just wait for a Free-Fly event - they happen fairly often.
