Extremely insightful, thank you for sharing your thoughts and well-articulated ideas. Business intangible assets, apart from Brand, also revolve around Intellectual property, trade secrets, network effects, competitive advantages, or as Warren Buffett would say "Business Moats". How can we as individuals create a "Moat", a differentiator that yields a value for others and ourselves, and that protects us from losing market share, attention, opportunities, etc. I love what you said about Trust, Trust is an asset, potentially the most important one for an individual, the harder one to build, and the easiest one to lose, but at the same time, the harder one to steal, imitate, and replicate for others. I believe that if we all focus on being our unique selves, provide and create value for others, and grow to levels of excellence where what we do, and what we offer, is valuable, relevant, and beneficial for others, causing a positive impact in the people who trust us, then we would be entering what I call a "Virtuous circle". The value we create becomes so unique, and important, that we start attracting the right people, who resonate with us, the right opportunities, and the right energy. However, enjoying the process, I personally believe, is the most important variable of all, if a strong sense of purpose does not exist, I believe that finding the motivation to move forward every day would be challenging. In the end, the results, are just consequential to the process, and should not be used to measure our "success", the person we become is what matters the most, and what that person is capable of. Thank you for this extraordinary video, leveraging the internet and our digital selves to help us propel through our journey while creating value for others, is without a doubt something that could help potentialize the uncapped potential of each one of us. Cheers!

Wow, thanks for the incredibly detailed and insightful comment Oscar! That means a lot that you enjoyed the video so much and took away so much value. I read through your comment a few times to take it all in, you have quite a few excellent points ✨ I'm glad that you listed a few more intangible assets - thinking in terms of network effects and competitive advantages (moats) is extremely valuable to generate assets that people actually find valuable. As much as we may find it irritating, we do live in an attention economy, and choosing to avoid playing the attention game will lead to no one finding the assets in the first place, regardless of how valuable it is. In a sense, the value is only realized when another finds it, which I think relates very well to your commentary on the virtuous cycle. I have always thought of it as synergistic sharing, but I really like how you framed it as a circle, since it tends to build back and forth as a cycle. I actually view it as a spiral, so we are always building off of ourselves and those we resonates with to reach new heights. I also really like how you framed trust as being hard to gain, easy to lose, yet also difficult to steal or replicate. I think that is the true crux of a personal brand and the corresponding digital ID. We want to be able to generate unique value of course, but the presentation and connection with others should also have some style associated with it that indicates trustworthiness to those who receive value from the intangible assets. I agree that sharing unique value allows for a true connection with an audience. Web2 has indoctrinated the world that # of followers = value, when really the # of followers merely = reach. Reach is not the same as quality of storytelling and value transfer. If the audience only resonates with a small portion of what you are saying, then the network effect fails to trigger and the value remains unheard. However, if we build an audience of True Fans, follower number becomes irrelevant (after a certain sustainable threshold is reached). Instead of focusing on followers, if we can find a way to enjoy the process (like you noted) we can maintain alignment of the self with the purpose behind the story. This leads to a sustainable process that authentically resonates with others, allowing us to tell the story of our journey while living it. Living, learning, and building in public ✨ Thanks again for your insights! You've given me a lot to think about 😊 Regarding the commentary on authenticity and story, you might find my mini-series on Self-Awareness and Story in my newsletter interesting: wanderloots.substack.com/publish/posts/detail/136865348?referrer=%2Fpublish%2Fposts This sub-series is mapped to level 3 of Maslow's Hierarchy, Belonging Needs.

Are you still thinking same as though 9 months ago ? Sometimes, I am just thinking that the only way is just getting a reputable and a demanding university degree -bachelor's more optionally- and walking in the road of traditional corporate job career path. Yeah, I know, that's not the thing. The thing is creating value in the end no matter under a company, solo or an another form.

Yes! I am, I actually feel as though I'm much further ahead on this path now. I agree, I think it's all about generating value, no matter the circumstances. I think people in corporate ecosystems can augment their careers by considering their digital identities more, since it's a way to boost reputation across the globe and potentially provides an exit into self-employment/entrepreneurship in the future. It's not necessarily about one or the other, but of taking the time to consider the impact of your personal brand on your life, and the ways you can use it to boost the value you're creating ✨

For sure! As long as it’s able to be done sustainably. I think it’s easy to burn out along the way, and hard to get unburnt haha
