I use a fluke, but I've had plenty of others since I worked as a Technician. My favorite is one I built from taking a corresponds course in the late 70's. Still have Still works. I started in the U.S. Army as a Technician in 1967... And when I got out continued as one till 2012 when I retired. But I still like working on things when I get the chance.

ELEMENT14, can you make a video lesson about Ghost voltages, common circuit board ghost voltages and when would you want to measure leakage current and ghost voltages? some DVM have a LOW Impedance Voltage setting which you should go over in a video lesson about using it and when to use it.

I'm a little over 10 minutes and had to replay and pause many times. I would think the most import point to know is the differences in functionality (ie. what all of the buttons do) to see which works best for their application. A typical homeowner or do it yourselfer would drop off somewhere as the list of functions go up. After a minute and a half of fun at the beginning you went into the most important part but did it quickly. Checking diode wasn't on the screen for an entire second so I had to rewind to see what you wrote. To explain the true RMF you did an excellent job of showing two meters and I thank you for that. When I rewound and paused I saw V and AC on both but wasn't sure what you were measuring because the image focused on only the reading and not the setting of the meter. At first, I couldn't believe such a difference in Amps partly because you said "amplitude", not "ampere". So I don't know what you were measuring. I'm not comment to show how ignorant I am but to show you an example of your viewers. I truely believe that the most intelligent people are those who can see things through the eyes of others. I strive for this. I'll watch the rest of the video then probably go to another. I have learned at least 3 things so far on yours. I may just buy a fluke 75 on ebay. There is a guy selling one with an external clamp for amps. I may just buy a small bench one. I don't want one from China so may go vintage.

The red cheap multimeter shown I believe doesn't have continuity as a function unless I missed it in the instruction manual.

Still using my old APPA 98 1th gen daily, must be running on 20+ years now but damn what a good DMM.

Beware cheaper clamp DMMs, that love to hide the fact they only measure AC amps in the fine print.

I will go with a fluke always. It might be a hurt in your pocket, but they are well worth it. They are known for their rugged testing they go through with high standards.

There still made in China, somethings don't change.

here you are wrong. Just like to learn oscilloscope you need an analog one and not a digital one. When i say 10KG and 50KG, you are actually getting the feeling of those weight. You have to use manual multimeter to get that feeling of those ranges. Same goes for learning driving, use manual gear shifting veh.

I don't completely agree about the DSO part. I own a DSO but never used the magic "Auto" button till to this date. I operate it manually just like an analogue CRO. Also it's important to note that used cheap CRO aren't easily available in everywhere. Where I live, it's almost impossible to get a used one. New ones, even the Chinese ones costs more than a cheap DSO. So I never had the chance to operate and learn an analogue scope.
