Steve, I just purchased a 2021 Highlander platinum and the mirror camera does have a washer as well, it is just tucked up inside the trim. However, it is not quite far enough forward to clean the lens as well as the back up camera cleaner does

Bummer these digital mirrors are now out of stock and have been since around early March 2022 builds from what I gather. I pick up my 2022 Hi Hybrid AWD Platinum tomorrow and it is not on the VSpec sheet for my specific VIN/build. Note that the model number has an E on the end now, for my model it used to be 6967 and now it is 6967E, and yes my VIN is different than original one. The MSRP keeps going up there is no big drop due to the lack of the digital rear view mirror. The mirror alone 87810-0R190 costs around $2700 but the substitute auto dimming mirror is not exactly free, so who knows how the costs were adjusted. From what I've read, I doubt the rear view CAMERA is installed, but hopefully the wiring harness is ready for it. So if you really want to install one later when available, well... who knows?? $$ ??

Steve, you have been pretty helpful explaining thing that are not obvious on my new Highlander Platinum 2021. My question this time it appears the backup camera and screen is not as sharp as the digital rearview mirror or my 2015 Avalon I used to have. It seems the camera quality is not the best. Please advise.

Steve. Thanks for these videos. I have the 21 Highlander XKE. No rear view mirror camera. But there is a power button and THREE other buttons. When I press them they all show the same symbol. What is the function? I thought they were brightness but I don’t see any difference

The one button that turns on and off the green light turns on and off the self dimming function. The other 3 are your home link for garage door openers

Sorry it wouldn’t let me reply. To answer your question,No. I put a down payment to hold the vehicle over a month ago. but the sheet I was shown when the car was being built had it. The vin number at the end was different but when I contacted the salesman today he said that the vin he showed me he said was half production number half vin. Is that true?

That's true. Toyota uses a production vin while building the vehicle. They have been removing equipment if it was unavailable at time of production.

Does the digital rearview mirror act as a dashcam by recording onto an SD card? If not, they should DEFINITALY integrate that in the future!!!
