I really love these Digital Rehearsal Hall videos! Especially to see how Col Jason Fettig interacts with The President's Own!

Wonderful piece and some wonderful playing. This piece has been very popular/highly programmed during the last few years. The elements of the black church and the jazz themes are incredible.

I’ve always enjoyed rehearsals more than actual performances. There is so much to be learned from a great conductor and listening to the various sections. Thanks for posting these!

Wonderful to hear the band work through something not in the traditional rep that is probably new to many of the players. Great job, keep these coming!

Moinsen. So late at night you get me out of my chair. I'm over the moon. Fantastic. An incredibly outrageous sound. Thank you for letting us be a part of the rehearsal. Wie schon so oft: ich kannte dieses Musikstück nicht. Ich empfehle es mit BOSE zu hören 😎.

Why are you tuning to a Bb Clarinet instead of the fixed pitch OBOE?
@Michael-ig8ih2 жыл бұрын
The majority of band instruments are in a flat key. The Bb is more stable on the clarinet than oboe. Plus the 1st clarinet fills the concertmaster role.

Great question….puzzled me as well. We always used the Oboe concert A to tune to (Raf Central Band). The answer provided is equally puzzling. Clarinets, in this case, are pitched in Bb….ie. Pitch. As it happens, (having been for many years a Principal clarinet player) Bb (A+speaker key) is the least stable note the instrument produces so the worst choice. Choosing the Clarinet because there are lots of them is as illogical as choosing a Trombone because it can be the loudest….. Great individual standards of playing.

@@richardstone5813The Bb Clarinet player is playing their C, a sounding Bb, so the problems with a clarinet’s Bb are irrelevant
