Thank you so much for all these great videos! I was stuck at 680 in math but after watching your videos I got a 740 in June. Now I'm taking the August exam and aiming for 800.

@@Tutorllini I'l make sure to do that. I got 730 on english and 690 on math on the Bluebook practice test #4 I took 2 weeks ago, so I'm hoping to cross the 750 barrier for math. I'm taking the test on August 24 so hopefully I can bring my score up.

For this question (9:13) I just set my p slider in desmos equal to any positive value (can be anything, but whole numbers are easier to use). Let's pretend I set my p=3. The question says that the radius is n*p. So when the equation and the slider in desmos are set to p=3, the radius of the circle is 9. So, 3n=9. Then, n=3!!!! The numbers can be different too, p=6 works, p=4, etc!

Nice work! Be careful about plugging in 0 or 1 as a constant. 1 especially. x x^2 1/x are all the same when you make x=1 (because 1 has many special properties). When using positive constants to guess and check go with 2, 3, 4, 5.... so you don't run into that issue. www.desmos.com/calculator/lnx8w5zekq
@LesterOrie-mj6hq
@LesterOrie-mj6hq 4 ай бұрын
Understood. I know that but as I saw a positive constant I immediately went for one although I usually don't but it worked out in the end. The right by left equals the height squared formula to find DC in the triangle question got me. I didn't know that formula before so my thanks for that but is there any other way to approach that question. I was initially thinking about 30-60-90 and 45-45-90 triangles and the corresponding lengths but it relied on too many assumptions regarding if the line in the middle cut the top right angle into either a forty-five or thirty/sixty degree angle.

@@LesterOrie-mj6hq See the pinned comment to learn more about Altitude-on-Hypotenuse. Many ways to do it. Here's one. First find BD = 11 like we did in the video. Then recognize that △ADB is similar to △ABC by the AA criterion. Set up a proportion to solve for AC. Then take away 121/3 from AC to get x.

Is there another way to do the triangle questions other than the Altitude hypotenuse method? Like using trigonometry for example?
@Tutorllini
@Tutorllini 3 ай бұрын
Yup! You can use inverse trig like here: www.desmos.com/calculator/vimkzyg3si Just keep in mind that it is not in the CB syllabus (so never intended). Studying inverse trig prob is not worth it. You can also read one of my other replies for how to set it up using similarity. The concept is the 3 triangles (left, right, big) are all similar to one another. I like to track the angles using colors - to make it easier to see the corresponding sides. Here is a similar one I solved that way: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g5LUp4poZqmhpck See if that gets you started. I hope this helps!

For the Practice test 3 q8 m2 question is it ok to do arc cos to find the angle of A and then use it to find x since they are similar triangles? I ended up using tan and got x = 3.00101
@Tutorllini
@Tutorllini 4 ай бұрын
Hey Ravi! You mean like this? www.desmos.com/calculator/zqcqxyhctb nice thinking! It certainly works. My only caution to you is that College Board NEVER expects you to know inverse trig functions. So, if you get too used to this, it could come back to bite you on a conceptual question (which could require you to recognize the 3 triangles are similar to one another). I hope this helps!

I forgot to mention for 17 I also simplified and got (-13-63d)/60d which was the simplified version of answer choice A. Why is it not simplified?
@Tutorllini
@Tutorllini 4 ай бұрын
Sorry, I am not a psychometrician. You'd have to ask College Board this question. Sometimes the answers are simplified and sometimes they aren't.

For 17 I didn’t distribute 6d to (20x+21) and couldn’t get the right answer. Could you still solve this without distributing? Could you just divide both sides by 6d and carry on from there?
@Tutorllini
@Tutorllini 4 ай бұрын
Great question! I agree this is the more logical thing to do. I figured out the faster way by peeking at the answer choices. It works both ways (as long as you know how to add/subtract rational expressions). See below: drive.google.com/file/d/1jGAtFUhAHLAurzS6L-PTQeJZ3LKNUgC7/view?usp=sharing

Does the digital SAT asks questions on reflection of function? I saw some when practicing non linear functions in khan academy.
@Tutorllini
@Tutorllini 4 ай бұрын
I have not seen one yet where understanding reflections is important. Keep in mind Khan Academy DSAT Math is not very indicative of what you will see on the exam. I would suggest gaining a deep understanding of FUNCTION TRANSLATIONS (other types of transformations you do not need to know as well). I hope this helps! kzbin.info/www/bejne/r4Wbi56XbbqfgLM

@@fortnitesweatkid at 09:40 I say "we are gonna divide the whole thing by 8". I didn't forget - pressed for writing space and I thought saying it would be good enough. As I said, I would just do these question types (expanded circle equations) on Desmos anyway so learning Completing the Square might be a waste of time.
