Hey tutor Kyle, about the 2nd last quesiton we can do it on desmos. Write the table and then regress it like y1 ~ a(x1-8)^2 + 1034 (we already know those values) and after that we can just plug play (10,970) and it lies on the graph. Have a great day/night.

in the last question is ( a ) in these type of questions always 1? and why didn't we put the whole -1 to the power of 0? why we put only 1 to the power of 0 without the negative sign. and also thank you sm
@Tutorllini
@Tutorllini Жыл бұрын
So I think you are asking is it -a^0 or (-a)^0. It is the first one, because there are no parentheses in the problem. You would insert parentheses if you were say plugging in a value for a, like a =2 or something. But that is not what is happening here. Anything to the power of zero = 1, even a variable. Rules of exponents!

You don’t really need graphs for questions like these (30:46) if we know it reached max height at 8 sec then the last two seconds would be downhill. Calculate the distance it covers each second (1034/8) which is 128 and then as it is 2 seconds so we get 256, remember it’s going downhill so subtract 256 from 1034 and we got the answer. Hope this helps.

I highly recommend learning the math behind the question (vertex form). Applying physics concepts is cool and all - but it won't help you get lots of questions correct. Understanding vertex form and how to plot a graph will help you get A LOT of questions right. Best of luck!

for the last question, i tried to shift the y intercept up by 12 and i got a b of 9/7 , why is my solution for b incorrect?
@Tutorllini
@Tutorllini 3 ай бұрын
I see! In y = a(b)^x +c you think the number to the side (c) is the y-intercept. This is a common misconception. Here is a great video going over this idea: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bIqXlGCrid98irc See how in this example the y-intercept is NOT 5? www.desmos.com/calculator/gdcbbfswb2 I hope this helps!

For example question 1 (the projectile) in 680 or higher, I tried applying physics by subtracting the height at max point (1034) by the acceleration due to gravity in feet which is 32.1740 times the amount of time it takes which would be 2 seconds. I got the same answer within 10 seconds, is it safe to assume that SAT math questions have to be scientifically correct and logical or could a question be against the laws of physics and just testing this method of solving it?
@Tutorllini
@Tutorllini 7 ай бұрын
Good question! I would strongly advise against using outside courses (physics, calculus) to solve questions. Though most of the time a = -16, it might not always be a projectile context (for example a profit graph) or the projectile could be on the moon or something. I got the answer in well under 30 seconds using Desmos. Why risk getting it wrong or not knowing how to do it? Learn to do by hand then practice Desmos usage. See below: www.desmos.com/calculator/udlyureoky Good luck Omar!

So interesting question, both of the SAT's that ive taken they love to ask System of Equations problems. could you just graph all of them? You always have access to desmos on the test so I think you could do it but I wanted to know if there was a reason that you shouldnt do that.
@Tutorllini
@Tutorllini 8 ай бұрын
On the actual test, sure. While practicing, if you don't know the Algebra for the more basic questions, you will have very little chance of getting harder questions that use those concepts correct (ones that cannot be solved using Desmos). There is always conceptual questions involving Linear Systems and Linear Quadratic Systems that are Student Produced Response and basically need to be solved by hand (I go over these in my videos). TLDR: Spam Desmos on actual exam. Practice everything by hand AND Desmos while practicing. I hope this helps!
