This video is a quick review of the Digital Ultrasonic Cleaner PS-10A. This come in various capacity sizes but all have the same layout and functions.
I use these for cleaning watch parts , cases and bracelets but you can use these ultrasonics for just about anything that needs cleaning. Car parts, items with lots of grease and dirt buildup.
The list is endless.
The conclusion is this has many good features for the money. It has a good Ultrasonic output and with heating of water / cleaning fluid. A long time program too which is very useful.

Looks a good bit of kit Michael and big enough you could Mod the cage to plastic with 2 levels its deep enough,pehaps between lid basket and body a rubber gasket help keep noise down and heat in

I have the same model and just put some cheap foam weather stripping around the underside of the lid to dampen the vibration.

Love my PS-10A, but mine makes a loud beep every time I push a button. Did yours not have a beep, or did you find a way to disable that?

Thanks for the video, very usefull. Is it safe to use this kind of cleaner for every watch part, or should we use it with care for jewels or other parts?

Sorry for delay . Yes I clean all my watch parts in this Ultrasonic . The key is the cleaner you use . For case parts and bracelets I just put in with some detergent. For movement parts I do those in little jam jars with cleaning fluid and place those in the water in the Ultrasonic. I have done a video on products I use to clean parts with . Thanks

I have the similar model, there are a few things I just don't understand. Yellow sticker says "do not plug power before filling..." Don't they mean fill it and then plug into the wall? What danger if I do the reverse? (I noticed you did the reverse, not criticising you, just trying to understand) Also, I set the temp to 30 but it actually went up to 36. (Yours also finished at actual higher temp.) Why would that happen? Many thanks.
@MyRetroWatches
@MyRetroWatches 8 ай бұрын
Well it would be obvious why they would say to fill first due to electric. This video is so old I can’t remember what I done but often I am only topping It up. As for temp rising that’s just friction

Hi Michael, enjoyed your video on the us cleaner and am about to purchase the same model, I just would like to ask one question, does the steel basket touch the bottom of the us cleaner, I only say this because I was going to purchase the GT US cleaner wear the basket touches the bottom makeing the unit less effective, so people had to modify buy raising the the basket. Many thanks Marco.

I've been using lighter fluid in a small glass jar to manually agitate movement parts (except pallet fork assemblies) in order to clean them... Watch channels on YT imply that I need a Sonic cleaning tank in order to clean parts properly. I was a little underwhelmed when I saw your results, plus the idea that Fairy liquid along with most dish washing soap contains a far amount of sodium, doesn't sit well with me. You only have a 50W heater on this tank , so it is next to useless surely if used in a cold unheated workshop in the UK during winter, I mention this because surely its easier, faster and cheaper to get one without a heater and fill it from the hot tap. After all, the water only has to remain hot for fifteen minutes. Are your certain that I need to invest in this product?

Gary Seven okay a few things to address here, I have done more recent videos so look at my video list for cleaning watch parts. I also now have a watch cleaning machine but still use the ultrasonic for a pre wash. I have never had problems with dish soap , in theory you should not clean with water but if you are just starting out or have particularly dirty parts this method works very well. My watch cleaning machine I use L&R waterless fluids which are very expensive but they do not clean off old dried oils well. So if you use dish soap as your first wash but then dry parts well you will find this does a good job. It is then important to clean with other products such as essence of Renata to get a really good result. My bench is in my garage , it gets quite cold out there in the winter yet I’ve never had a problem with the heater , you don’t put too much water in anyway so it will heat in a matter of minutes. I recommend these type of ultrasonic as they are inexpensive and they work well . Plus you can get then in all sizes . More professional machines you will pay x10 x20 the price all day long. I also know many people with the same machine and they all like it too.

@@MyRetroWatches Wow! thanks for the fast reply.. I have already been looking at your past videos (especially the one warning us about the Chinese exploding Ultra sonic washer).. Hint taken.. The link here was very interesting, as I've not seen that one before. Your Brenray Imp does seem a little too industrial for where I want to take my hobby, although I feel now that I might try a cheaper option of an ultra sonic cleaner, the process reminds me of my history within the electronics industry, where a pre-heated solvent, something along the lines of Arklone was often used in a huge stainless steel baths to de-grease PCB's prior to wave soldering etc. Your manufacturer of choice being Seiko and covering many models of Seiko watches, you must come across many that had little or no water resistance from new, so you now have to deal with many cases of water ingress and chronic rust damage. Right now I'm only interested in Vostoks and only those blessed with screw down crowns, so I see very little if any with rust issues and rust seems to be the difficult one to shift when cleaning. On the other hand, Vostoks suffer from lack of any servicing or bad servicing (looks like Engine oil) and I see them seized solid in black gunk, a mix of very old oil and metal dust. Yeah, I can actually semi clean my solvent using a strong magnet. Anyway, thanks for the response, I shall be looking out for a small ultra sonic cleaner. (Stainless steel with good seals)🔥 Stay healthy during these difficult times. 👍

Hi I am thinking of getting one but I can't understand why one of those portable ultrasonic cleaners for glasses would not work? They are small, quiet but has the same power 50-60W and frequency 40-45 Hz?
@MyRetroWatches
@MyRetroWatches 2 жыл бұрын
They are just poorer in quality. I had one (I reviewed it) but water got onto the circuit board and up in smoke it went. This one is more industrial and has heating which the cheaper ones usually don’t. Mine lasted 3 years before it gave up only recently. I bought the exact same one again.

@@MyRetroWatches Thanks. Reading from forums and reviews, it seems like these things don't last long do they? You found a good one because everyone is say oh it lasted me 3 weeks, 1 month, 3 months... I'm like wth.
@ARescueToaster
@ARescueToaster Жыл бұрын
The real cheap ones (you'll know them - they are in the $30-40 range and they all have the same shape with the cheap plastic door) are very poor designed and cheaply made. To empty the cleaning fluid inside it, you will need to tip it upside down and since the plastic shell on the device is not tightly fit or water proof the liquid WILL get inside the electronics and ruin it pretty damn quick. I opened my cheapo Magnasonic one up and the circuit board inside was full of corrosion after just a few uses. Unless you keep your cleaning solution inside it permanently, which is not recommended, you'll likely run into this problem

Does this US get your parts noticeably cleaner than your previous consumer grade US. Here in USA, this model is 3 times the price of your previous one.
@MyRetroWatches
@MyRetroWatches 5 жыл бұрын
Hello and thanks for your comment, Yest it does it is in another league to the other one. The other cheaper model completely failed on me as it leaked and water got onto the circuit board causing extensive damage. This one in the review is all steel container which makes sense and easier to fill / empty and keep clean. The timer is as long as you want (other was restricted) and then of course it has a heater which makes for better cleaning of anything really especially greased components. I use mine mainly for watch parts but have thown my glasses in there, my razor & all kinds. For the price tag I think it offers so much more.

Can you clean watch cases with crystal and bezel on them?
@MyRetroWatches

potentially at your own risk. realistically I would be removing a bezel as trapped water could cause rust if not dried in time. Also there can be trapped dirt so its worth cleaning removed.
