Conformity assessments audits are often not consistent. How will the EU ensure that AI audits are consistent and provide high level of assurance.

As part of the European Commission’s standardization request, CEN-CENELEC/JTC21 is working on a *conformity assessment (CA) standard* detailing how to conduct a CA under the AI Act. Also, only *notified bodies* shall perform independent third party audits. These notified bodies are formally designated by EU member states, based on an evaluation of the organization’s technical competence, impartiality and independence.
