Also creating a solution that will come with a slew of problems and dependency is not sustainable. I would look to the solutions and systems of the natural world before artificial and technological intervention. If missionaries really wanted other countries to be self reliant, they would’ve helped them learn how to build and farm. Bio dynamic farming, regenerative farming. They only design them to be dependent on these reach out/outreach programs. When do we genuinely teach them how to fish versus continuing to provide the fish. It may look philanthropic, but actually it’s creating a subconscious form of slavery.

We're already at 1C, and the northern areas are already at 2C and beyond. These changes are irreversible, and already having devastating effects to large swathes of the United States and everywhere else in the world. People are dying. And without MIRACLES, this trend will take us to 3C and beyond. Nuclear is not happening in the near term. Fusion remains a distant dream. RENEWABLES ARE NOT A REPLACEMENT for fossil fuels -- and you guys conveniently ignore this. It seems that WE WILL SEE BENEFITS from AI. But, those benefits will come at a significant cost to the environment. Lastly, you do not deal at all with the socio-political ramifications of continued warming and the resulting destruction, habitat loss (for humans) -- nevermind the threats to food production, or the pitfalls of AI. So, while it's nice to "look at the bright side," this kind of statement is misleading at best.

Hi Reid, I found the interview intriguing. Also, I have studied quite a few of the issues which were discussed and have made quite a few breakthroughs in these areas. One of the reasons why I think we might be seeing slow progress in these areas is largely due to the difficulties associated with getting information to people who are actually able to do something about the problem. So, we have this divide between people who are capable and those who are knowledgeable, which leaves the problems unsolved. I was wondering if you could maybe help me close that gap by providing me with a way to reach out to you guys about these problems and how I could potentially work with you on them, or at least get some of my ideas heard by someone in your organization. My research areas cover the topics of disease, desalination, climate change etc.

This session covers quite broadly about A.I. and its surrounding industry ecosystem on its potential applications to come (and those already realised). The only limiting factor is energy, particularly Green Electricity (or else you wouldn't even mention the idea of launching a Data Center up into space and have it draw limitless energy from the sun for a 24/7 operation). So let's lay all our cards on the table, the 3 potential options that we practically have for Green Electricity are : WIND 🌬 • On-shore - scaled to low cost adoption in temperate climate locations where there're plenty of land available → DONE • Off-shore - somewhat premium but efforts are being deviced to scale the cost down to affordable consumption via mass volume deployment → ON-GOING SMR ☢ - still a premium but hyperscalers already begun to step in efforts to scale them down to affordable price for general domestic consumption → ON-GOING SUN 🌤 - scaled to low cost adoption in tropical/equator locations where there're plenty of land available → DONE The hyperscalers are already helping out in the nuclear sector (so you can relax a bit and spend your free-up time on other areas). In the sector of Green Electricity, the only practical area that currently oblige our attention and effort to ramp up volume for cost down adoption is in the Off-Shore Wind, namely Deep Sea Floating kind where there's almost no limit as to how much (or how big) you want to scale them beyond the green premium threshold to affordability level as the ocean is vast.

Most cars had a woman in it, I guess they ranged from young mothers to elderly grandmothers. I notice that each woman was to some degree or other obese, that the car engine was running and they all had their head down and were using mobile phones. Gates has his head in the technological clouds. The solutions must be found in changing people's behaviour because all new technologies will be used to the point of environmental abuse: mothers and grandmothers creating pollution-hot-spots outside of schools twice daily, for example.

Some scientists said some while ago that the number of under sea volcanos emitting co-2 was HUGE and greatly outnumbered the ones on land. The amount of co-2 emitted by these various volcanos is why co-2 levels are so high, and also because man keeps deforesting huge swaths of territories. The claim seems right that 97% of co-2 is naturally emitted from the waters of the oceans, since warmth proceeds the rise in co-2 levels when looking more closely at the ice-core samples taken from Antarctica. The tail cannot wag the dog--it is the other way around. Also, a decade or more ago, it was found that the rest of the planets orbiting the sun, Sol, were also experiencing an average temperature rise, yet to most people's knowledge these other planets were NOT inhabited by co-2 emitting SUVs and their humans. Also, the sun, Sol, is destined to be shorter lived than other stars that emit a more blue colored light since Sol shall become a red dwarf that shall encompass the first three or four orbiting planets, including Earth but this is supposed to happen about a billion or more years in the future when humans are likely going to be long extinct not only due to warming but due to an ideology being taught to our young people in schools that make them not want to start and raise a family of sufficient numbers of children that populations of any places teaching this crap are suffering from very low rates of birth. The inflation rate makes home buying impossible for young people to raise their young families. There are hormone blockers and disruptors being put into our environment that affects negatively a woman's gestation of their fetus so that they are born genderless. Women less feminine and men born more feminine. Soon human cloning shall have to replace sexual reproduction, as may have been the plan all along when allowable concentrations of these forever chemicals were lobbied to double every few years by tycoon industrialists.

From revolutionizing technology to dedicating his time and resources to global health, education, and sustainable development, he has shown that true impact comes from giving back. You misunderstand that intelligent and curious people are capable of turning their minds to many different problems. When you add money and a scientific way of thinking, the results are limitless. Do you not agree with improving world health, or not tackling climate change?
@007gunlogoАй бұрын
@martin777xyz I would be fine if he'd just donate the money to those that know and get off his high horse. You attribute too much intellect to him. He is not a scientist. He's a guy that dropped out of college and got lucky being in the right place at the right time with his little piece of software. He's like Steve Jobs, and people worship that idiot as well. He used people far smarter than he to build technologies...then got on stage with his little turtleneck and showed off...like he actually was the guy responsible for building all that tech. Jobs was a miserable little man that went years without acknowledging his daughter. I'm happy people invest to advance medicine and health. However, a good half of all scientists don't even believe in climate change. A large portion of that is a manufactured crisis by the liberal side of the scientific community. Gates just likes the spotlight, and is an insufferable little nerd. The only reason anyone listens to him is because he has money. Period.
@martin777xyzАй бұрын
@007gunlogo he literally gives his money away to people who know. However he does his due diligence first, and keeps doing it. Sometimes no-one knows, and so he gives money to multiple candidates, prepared that they may all be wrong. But it's better to try - there is no alternative with climate change.

Nope, current and future AI is limited by the ceiling we have reached with digital computing. It takes too long to do the computations with 1s and 0s through transistors. The solution is Quantum Computing. QC will allow us to build models that unlock the secrets of all these issues, ie photosynthesis, energy capture, chemistry, curing all diseases. Our brains are unable to grasp the timeframes necessary with digital computing to build these models, QC will chew through them in a heartbeat allowing us to derive ground breaking solutions for all these issues and jump start a whole new industrial/information revolution.

AI has already ruined the entire music industry. Cher started it as a gimmick, now its an industry cover-up. The Music media is not covering the biggest story in music, fake vocals: vocals that are autotuned, pitch corrected, or vocals mimed in concert performances. Each day more and more people are learning their favorites are fake. Fake is rampant. But is that fact or opinion? The technology that allows a person to auto tune and pitch correct a voice, is also the technology that proves when a singer is using it. No human can sing with perfect pitch. But anyone reading this can sing better than anyone that has ever lived, by pushing a button! Fake is rampant, but most listeners refuse to believe it's true. Fil of Wings of Pegasus, using Pitch Monitoring Software, has analyzed songs requested by viewers. Here is a partial list of some of those major performers, caught with fake vocals: Rolling Stones, Eagles, Bee Gees, Freddie Mercury, Simon and Garfunkel, Taylor Swift, Lenny Kravitz, Celine, Pentatonix, Creed, Whitney Houston, Paul McCartney, Bryan Adams, Mariah Carey, Charli XCX, AMA Awards Performances, BTS, most K-Pop groups, The First Take KZbin channel, etc. This is now an industry standard practice of all three major labels, Warners, Universal, and Sony. This fakery not only cheats fans but is unfair to artists like Billie Eilish, Adele, Pink, U2, or Roger Daltry, who don't use it. People need to know when there are fake vocals pretending to be real talent.

Can we discuss animal suffering, quality of life, and investing in creating non animal proteins, I see the cost of meats and I see the cost of my veggie burgers and they seem on par at the grocery store, so lets just be compassionate for other species as well as malnutrition and invest in what the future seems inevitable to some day conclude that slaughtering of animals and consuming them for flavour is morally inhibitive. We are not there yet. I guess only people called during the civil war times as abolitionists are people can understand that suffering of people is wrong, but suffering of any animal cognitive of what is happening is important; I am using a extreme hyperbole and of course I do not think that slavery and African Americans are on par with domesticated cows used for slaughter. But I am using it as an analogy that history shows that humans thought slavery necessary and a right, and maybe we should think that way on a much broader perspective. I think history shows that human rights, animal rights have taken steps back but in general, we have moved towards progressiveness, women's rights, scientific research, laws protecting ethnic origin, sexual orientation, etc, is now fundamental, and this was not the case before.
@stephaniecok34842 ай бұрын
Bill Gates, thus if you yourself have some odd rare disease or a family member, you could invest in this being super rich, but until then we should. focus on African Health Care, also, convincing cultures in Africa that these trained doctors aren't a threat and thus we neeed ethnographers to gain the trust of cultures raised to be weary of those seen as others, thus there is more than just medical care there is spreading education to these communities and gaining their trust fter historical atrocities such as apartheid, have created among African peoples with high levels of melanin, or ethincally considered African, which is not to be confused with origin as all Homo sapiens are shown to be have evolved in Africa, and only traveled beyond human created boundaries of conitinents and countries thousands of years after evidence of homo sapien fossils.

Secular humanism is a philosophy, belief system, or life stance that embraces human reason, logic, secular ethics, and philosophical naturalism, while specifically rejecting religious dogma, supernaturalism, and superstition as the basis of morality and decision making. Secular humanism posits that human beings are capable of being ethical and moral without religion or belief in a deity. It does not, however, assume that humans are either inherently good or evil, nor does it present humans as being superior to nature. Rather, the humanist life stance emphasizes the unique responsibility facing humanity and the ethical consequences of human decisions. Fundamental to the concept of secular humanism is the strongly held viewpoint that ideology be it religious or political must be thoroughly examined by each individual and not simply accepted or rejected on faith. Along with this, an essential part of secular humanism is a continually adapting search for truth, primarily through science and philosophy.
