Fair point, but here's a counterpoint: Chicken breasts were $1.99/lb here and now they are $4.99/lb. We know all major retailers are posting record profits every year under the guise of it just being general inflation. Why should we expect trading cards to be any difference?

Yup. Gas has doubled, Big Macs have gone up 25% since then, groceries are a lot more expensive. We could get into the reasons why but just suffice to say that having an expensive hobby can be expensive. Lots things to do that don’t cost anything…most of them include walking around 😂.

In capitalism, businesses are usually allowed to charge whatever the market will bear. Why should Topps and Panini be held to a different standard? They're not selling essential items like food and housing, so there's no concern about price gouging harming people.
