In theory, one is a club mixer and one is a battle mixer. But, these days you can rock a party or club with either one of them. So it's really more about your taste, and your preference.

Technics just last. I sold my old 1200’s to a guy in 2005 and he’s still using them. They were about 8 years old when I sold them to him. But yea if you take care of it you can make just about anything last a while. My Numark ns6 is over 10 years old now and I still use it every weekend. 👍👍

I would like to add: I personally am using a Native Instruments Z2 for years now and it's an very professional Battle Mixer for around 500€ even though it's made for Traktor Pro as a Software which is rather uncommon within the Scratch DJ Scene.

Thank you for your response. I've been an off an on dj since 2000. I came in the game when vinyl was phasing out. you stated that PRO DJs do not want to use CDJs. I needed that info. PRO gear is just so expensive though. I plan to go fulltime with my djing so i guess its best to get the best controller and work my way to the pro gear like the CDJ 3000's. Im sure the pros dont pay for them like regular djs have to.
@digitaldjtips2 жыл бұрын
Not sure where you got that idea from, on the contrary most pro DJs do used CDJs. Sorry if we confused you

Great VOD, thanks for taking the time to produce content. Personally I really wish we could see some sort of middle ground between the 2 in the sense of the battle mixers having all of the digital DJ controls but limited in channels as alas for my needs and mixing style, 2 channels is not enough. Would love to transition back from my DDJ-SSX controller to a mixer but need those controller features like assignable instant looping, assignable FXs , 3-4 channel etc. A modern day RANE 70s series version of an empath would be amazing or a 74. Cheers!

@@digitaldjtips Yeah I've met Richie several times back n the nineties when he lived n Detroit before he moved to New York. After that his parties were out of reach. I've seen him live 4 times each time his sets were nearly 4 hrs. Just incredible stuff. Now I watch his sets on KZbin lol. If u like Richie, may I suggest, 2017 Tel Aviv Block Festival, it's got to be in the top 5 of the baddest Techno sets ever!! It's mind blowing from beginning to end. It's some of the finest work he's ever performed.

I miss my technics 1200’s and mixer set up from the late 90’s but due to mp3 I can carry a ton more music with me and not have to lug around case after case of records and cd’s. The last 10+ years I’ve been running a Numark NS6 and it’s still going strong(I do keep it clean tho and take it apart once a year to do a deep clean on it). Tho I have replaced the fader a couple times and had to disconnect the strip search on the left side as it started resetting to the cue point every time the bass hit hard. But it’s been perfect for mobile gigs and Mardi gras parades along with my QSC speaker setup. Those speakers are tanks, and so far have lasted me 10 plus rough and tough years. Just now need to replace the wheels on the subs. But all in all I do miss the battle days but I definitely need 4 or 5 channels these days and a more mobile setup compared to when I was strictly a club dj in the late 90’s early 2000’s. 👍

Yeah we're glad to have kept the Technics and mixers even if we don't use them all too often, far too many benefits from controllers for us :)

I just started scratching and I can't imagine how long and expensive it would be to amass a collection I have now of digital music I've bought. Plus alot of the newer vinyl albums are pretty rare and $35-$40each so having a big enough collection to do a couple hour set would get expensive. I still do like having the actual vinyl though of the good scratch and break albums. Those are only $10-$20

There were optional rotary kit for both the DJM-3000 and the DJM-800. But, they weren't optimized for the best possible audio, and didn't have the very best turntable pre amps, but if the sound is good enough for you, and it's the rotary control you're after, they're booth a good choice. At least to start with, while you save up the fortune you'll need for the top-of-the-line rotary mixers, like the Formula Sound and Rane. They make the price of a DJM-900Nxs2 look like a bargain.

@@majkldjekson So I have looked into pioneer controllers but my question is is, does the controller need anything from a PC/Internet because I don't have a PC, can't afford one, but I have read some controllers need extra packs or whatever from a PC connection especially to the controllers own website, so this controller is already to play out of the box no real hardcore in-depth about presets or DLC for controller?

Also thx for time, I'm looking for a Android controller like the Apple, but it seems that all the gear is revolving around Apple products, I am looking for the Android equivalent to an Apple controller. Currently I have a DDJ-1000 and a DDJ-Rev7, which respectively embody “Club” vs “Battle” mixer designs. Both great for different reasons! Toronto is a hip-hop heavy town, so finding a Pioneer or Rane scratch mixer in a DJ booth is not uncommon, in my experience.
