For all those new to c4d like me who came here to find out why their tracking points aren't visible like i did...later i got a solution by simply switching on 2D tracks (i used 2D tracking option in R20 along with this tutorial and search for answers on web but didn't get solution and trainer seems not to "tip" us on that) ...2D tracks button appears similar to full solve button, after pressing "< auto track >" and then you find out you can't see any point, go ahead and press that button, usually in R20 (under motion tracker work-space) it sits below "tracker view" Thanks for your tutorial!

Great tutorial man! Do you know how to composite the GI pass on After effects? Been trying to figure that out
@DIGITALMEAT9 жыл бұрын
+Sociedad Alternativa - yes, you can render out of cinema 4d as a Multi-pass, so you can render out your GI, Reflection, colour, etc . . . . as separate passes. If you don't know how to mix these passes in After Effects (ie, Multiply, add, overlay) don't worry, in your render settings under Save, there is a section called Compositing Project File, click the save check box, and under target application choose after effects, then click Save Project File. Cinema 4d will create an After Effects file that will already be set up with your multi-passes in the correct order and the correct blending modes :D

Does the framrate really matter if you have an image sequence? Because I think if you have a sequence you can give it the fps you want, say 25 or 30. Also, I am not sure but in Mocha it is better to have uncompressed files like PNG. JPG is compressed so PNG-Sequence might be a better alternative. Anyway, thanks a lot for your many contributions. At 15:00 you show how to do the Planar Constraint. I'm following along in R18 and when I add the tag, all the tracking points disappear. I can't get them to show up when I'm editing the triangle's points, so it won't make a selection. Have you tried this?
@DIGITALMEAT7 жыл бұрын
make sure the tag is on the correct object and you have the motion tracker selected
@MBPaperPlanes7 жыл бұрын
Ok, of course I solve it just after I post. But for others running into this, you have to figure out which nulls (created with the 3D solve process) you want to use for the triangle. Then drag those nulls into the Selection field in the Planar Constraint tag. Not sure why they made this feature clunkier in R18, but there you have it.

I really like your tutorial, but have the problem that c4d only reconstructs the camera for a few frames (21 frames in the middle of 800). Are there any settings i have missed?
@DIGITALMEAT8 жыл бұрын
+TomBenBel - maybe your track points are not good enough to solve the camera, did you you get rid of bad track point's using the error threshold? another thing, do you have any moving objects in the footage or a turned on television? if so you're gonna need to mask them out.

you need to add your constraints to the tracker points first, these constraints determine where world zero is, and what XYZ are. As for the Axis, the axis on screen is just the axis of the motion tracker object when it is selected

@DIGITALMEAT8 жыл бұрын
+kuunami - Ok, I chose points that were being tracked on the floor but in 3D space these points were not flat like a ground plane so i chose the Y direction because Y is up in cinema 4D, this makes all the point that exist on the floor in the footage also exist on a flat plane in 3D space. does that help at all?

DIGITAL MEAT I think I understand. The ground is the Y plane in 3D space because In 3d space, a plane is named after which axis passes through it.

Hi, Thanks for the tut. Im having a nightmare with the motion tracker camera not moving once solved. To begin with its already created with a protection tag, in all the tuts Ive seen as soon as the motion tracking is solved the camera moves around in the perspective view when you scrub. Is it something to do with mettings? Ive tried multiple shots with different lighting etc, but the camera is just frozen.

If your Camera is not moving after a solve that means you didn't have enough tracking points or the quality of those points were not good enough.
@smyrkphace6 жыл бұрын
Appreciate the quick reply, It still seems weird to me though because Ive tried 6 different clips now with varied amounts of trackers, tried lowering the error threshhold etc. Manual tracking doesnt want to stick to marks on surfaces at all. Is there a clip that you know that works somewhere that we could troubleshoot with? The last solve I ran had 2000 trackers and theyre mostly green in the perspective. I can align the axis to the floor but when I do that the camera just stays where it started... what am I missing... anything related to render settings?

If you have an empty motion graph then that means you don't have any tracking points, try adding a lot more tracking points before you track the footage, also, is your footage of decent quality?

DIGITAL MEAT i put it up to 1500 numbers of tracks like in the video and i used my samsung phone for the footage so the resolution turned out to be quite good :/
