just bringing one guitar for tour? or he got the same guitar backup?

If I remember correctly, the backup was the same guitar, which is why we didn't have him show it off.

The Axe FX has made rig videos such a bore lately. Oh, you're running an Axe FX? Who ever would've guessed. Oh, no pedals 'cause you want to use the on-board effects? What a surprise. It's pretty much just a guitar rundown + 'how I configure my Axe FX!' now. I get why it is, since the Axe FX is one of the most convenient, and feature-loaded professional pieces of equipment on the market, but man... I'm getting so sick of seeing it. I want to see cool amps and unique pedals!

For the record, this isn't knocking the Gear Masters series. I'm a big fan of Gear Masters, and PG's Rig Rundown. I'm just pointing out how there's a lot less to go over now because everyone's beginning to gravitate towards the same two pieces of equipment. The Axe FX and Kempler are becoming the industry standard now and it sucks away part of the appeal of these videos. It's still a great series, though, and I still watch every episode out of curiosity and on the off-chance something unique or unexpected shows up. I just like getting an insight into a band's live rig. :)

Honestly, it's typically the small bands and super big bands that have the kickass gear. A lot of the bands in the middle of the pack have made this switch due to the amount of traveling they have to do on limited budgets. Big bands can get away with using sick gear all around the world and small bands typically stay in the U.S. allowing them to always have their boutique gear with them. We've got some super cool episodes coming up. If you haven't yet, check out our episodes with Joel from Whitesnake, MuteMath, Switchfoot and Relient K. Cool gear in all of those episodes. :)

I hate Axe and their convenience. But if great bands want to maintain keeping it real, they need to get their old members back and make better albums again.

Akherousia502 I completely understand where you are coming from. However, if you are looking for a rather unique gear set-up, watch the Vernon Reid rig run down. It will blow your mind!
