I really liked Mr. William's taste for Cymbals and drumset in general. I would like to ask him if he really thinks that Death Metal drummers, well, extreme death metal drummers cannot play without triggering the drums? What would a drummer sacrifice without using triggering or the opposite, what are we sacrificing ( just a way to say it) when using the triggers? I watched several drummers whose bass drums didn't sound without the triggers, I'm not sure if you get me, the guys played really fast but the bass drums were totally "weak" without the triggers so that's why I'd like to ask a real master and expert in this area. I also have to say that I love this guy's transitions when playing and some of of his grooves are really impossible to follow! I meant, amazing. After several years these guys ( my humble thoughts) are finally got into an extraordinary level and own sound.

I have to disagree about the sticks. Keep the firths paired or they feel inconsistent. A friend got me around 60 pairs, let them get mixed up and I always end up using the heavier one w my snare hand. They are great sticks otherwise.

@SeverinoSE6 жыл бұрын
Thanks and no problem :) I saw an other video of his where he used a stand but attached to the bass drum.
@SeverinoSE6 жыл бұрын
Thanks anyway! I saw that he uses a two-legged stand and attaches it to the bass drum. Some people say that the vibrations from the bass drum make the hi-hats move while you're not playing them. At the moment I have just a regular three-legged stand next to the bass drum but you compromise playability since it can't go as close as the attached one.

"See I'm in death metal so we trigger drums, right?" - kind of made me sad
@Abrahamhamham7 жыл бұрын
It shouldn't have, because triggering you drums is exactly like the singer using a microphone. Especially when your drumming consists of ridiculous bpms that otherwise, would sound muddy. It makes your job easier and it sounds more tight. It's not like triggers make a shitty drummer, a great one. You still have to play everything on time and be precise. Imagine a singer on stage with no microphone.
@Hamptainment7 жыл бұрын
Many a man has sat behind the death metal drum kit and crafted amazing powerful beats that helped define a genre, sans triggers. Triggering doesnt implicate poor playing either in my mind, but rather it creates a sound that is not to my liking, nor is it necessary for death metal drumming, which is why the statement above garnered the reaction from me that it did. Imagine a singer on stage with no autotuning is more your argument.
@Abrahamhamham7 жыл бұрын
No, no, my argument is that it makes your job easier. The microphone amplifies the sound. I know it's not a 100% perfect comparison, because triggers don't amplify the sound. I don't like the sound of triggered drums also, but sometimes they're necessary.
@zakhudson7 жыл бұрын
think of it this way though, you still have to play everything you hear now, take someone who cant keep time, or is sloppy, and well, triggers make that bad playing more transparent.
@Admiral_Bongo7 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I absolutely hate triggers. Not because of the "it's cheating" thing (music is not a fucking competition), but because hate the über-artificial clicking sound most samples have. I like the natural sound of a real kick drum. If it sounds muddy, simply tuning up the drums should do the job. And comparing triggers with mics is absolutely wrong, cause guess what, when drummers don't use triggers, the kick is miced. And microphones are just a way to amplify the sound. If anything, triggers are much more comparable with synths. And I hate synths in metal (many other genres are fine, though).

why do death metal drummers trigger bass drum? can someone explain? it sounds stupid and like a jackhammer a bassdrum literally has the word bass in it
@Perrythedrummer5 жыл бұрын
Being a drummer for a band named dying fetus would make it hard for companies to want to sponsor you haha. Just saying.
@digitaltourbus5 жыл бұрын
But when your band is as legendary as Dying Fetus is, it probably isn't that hard to get endorsements.
