@dy345672 күн бұрын
@@StardustLegacyFighter No you were right the first time, I've been following the TV market in developed countries for decades and Panasonic has essentially failed miserably in the developed world along with most other Japanese brands that were comfortable where they were and stopped innovating. Sharp, Sanyo, Toshiba, Panasonic and Sony completely crashed out and burned post CRT during the plasma and LCD races. Sony was the only Japanese company to make a comeback from obscurity during the beginning of the 4K era. The 4K LCD era was dominated by Samsung in the top, mid and low ends with LG being a close competitor and Sony coming in third place with a smaller but dedicated fanbase of the "Sony Colour Science" which referred to Sony's colour calibration of the panel. But Sony gave up their own smart tv software and opted for Google's android TV which was a really poor adaptation of android with a lacklustre user experience. It wasn't until Google finally improved it by launching Google TV (late 2020) as a successor to Android TV that sony had a decent smart TV OS; this likely held back Sony's sales for some time. Funnily it was around this same time (early 2020s) samsung's tizenOS and LG webOS went down the route of shitty full screen home pages leaving behind years of user friendly app bar layouts. So what happened to Japanese brands after they disappeared from retailers in almost every developed country? Well... Not much, they just continued to produce TVs in Japan for the domestic market. They still mostly made TVs that had older design and technology; but in Japan's domestic market, the consumers only ever see the domestic brands and are often unaware of new technologies and brands from overseas. As a matter of fact, even Samsung would be a foreign name in Japan to many people despite being the single biggest electronics company dominating consumer electronics in most of the developed world. This led to a sustained belief in Japan that Japanese brands were still the world-leading technology companies like in the late 90s and early 2000s. Many in Japan still believe Panasonic and Toshiba are world-leading brands but to the rest of the developed world, they're nostalgic brands we haven't seen or heard of in decades. But that's the past and it doesn't mean Japanese brands will remain in limbo forever. Japanese brands have what it takes to return and compete in the Global stage. But the new challenge won't be to compete with the Koreans but both Korean and Japanese brands trying desperately to survive the growing challenge from the Chinese brands. Chinese brands have been catching up in TV technology far too quickly for comfort for the current market leaders and the previously established players have had to give up the lower-end TV market entirely. They're making ground in the mid tier sector and it won't be long before they start making a serious dent in premium TV market also. But as an outside observer, I don't personally care about what company or country makes my TV. In the end, competition and commoditisation of technology helps customers like us.

QD-OLED doesn’t beat anything. Oversaturated colours and grey blacks aren’t anything to shout about.

@CyberWoogy Agreed,That’s why Panasonics and Sonys are kings
@troy55682 күн бұрын
@CyberWoogyOversaturated is far different from having limited color spectrum range. But the fact still remains, that a white sub-pixel dilutes the colors significantly, and making the display reproduce less shades of colors due to lack of enough saturation. Talk about an accurate QD-OLED, no wonder the A95L was the TV of the year 2023, and is about to be succeeded (hopefully) this year, should Sony decide to produce a new QD-OLED TV this year.

The panel is the same, yes, developed, manufactured and sold by LG display. But both LG Electronics, which manufactures TVs, and Panasonic buy the panels from LG Display, which is a separate entity. They have to get rid of the Amazon Fire TV crap
@notsorandumusername3 күн бұрын
Not likely, because Panasonic is probably getting paid for that or got a very sweet deal. You can bet your behind that Amazon is harvesting everything it can about your viewing habits (especially also on the rival platforms like Disney and Netflix) to use to their own advantage on Prime. Still, you can use it as monitor only by plugging it to mini-pc or whatever and just use the HDMI inputs. The TV itself does have to be connected to the internet, there's ways around.

Toshiba Since being acquired by Hisense, their sales have been quite good. Since the past 2 years, their sales have been number 1 in Japan. In my country Toshiba sells OLED, MiniLED and Fald which are rebranded from Hisense models. What i would like to see is TV's coming out with no smart functions. Maybe even have a separate box for the smart features. Most OS operating systems are terrible and I use something else instead of the TV apps. Plus if there is an issue with the OS, it takes the entire TV down and you have to reboot it, and some OS's like Google, take forever to boot back up. Let alone when they are up, it still takes some time for them to function fully.
