I have been using the 65 S95D for last 1 month, and it has been exceptional. The anti-glare is something I cannot live without now. Earlier I used to be able to see myself in the TV during daytime, and dark scenes looked bad during peak sunlight. But in this TV it is more than visible during the day and no distractions visible on screen. When there is less ambient light or no light you can barely tell it has an anti-glare coating, looks like any good OLED.

All I will say is I have an old LG C8 that I still love and in a dark room is amazing, but with any light sources or even white walls behind it you WILL see it reflected. I give you one advice I recommend you follow and fuck streamers or reviewers on this, when your tv looks and play great don’t update anymore, if last thing you miss is faster UI it’s not worth it. People updating Samsung especially majority goes in this trap, even the experts, so if all is good don’t update and be sure by reading how others experience is of if you know anyone. Play hard and enjoy 🤘🏼 Edit; also had your tv the first year it was out, first Samsung to get more black rather than the gray tones, also another good tv but they messed with firmwares over time as usual 🤣 Think it was around release of this I started get more cautious with updates, but it goes with all brands as messing firmwares is a criminal business they all do except Panasonic

I have had this since it was launched and I absolutely love it. I have a couple of recessed ceiling lights that I can barely see when the screen is dark. When I am watching something, there is no noticeable light reflected from anywhere. For years I have had annoying lights reflecting. Sometimes it is so bad I cannot play games or watch movies during the day. Now, no issues at all. The anti-reflective coating is really effective. The only issue I have with it is the difficulty getting sound to the soundbar. With HDMI-eARC turned on it regularly mutes sound to the soundbar (Q990D). Turn it off and it works.

What I do with my S95C and Q990B soundbar is to first switch my soundbar power on and then the TV on with remote. Then it works. If you find soundbar not responding, go to the TV's settings and then sound and then force select Sondbar + TV speaker option, it will reactivate the soundbar.
@Sas-wk9lj7 ай бұрын
@@BottyGuy you're seem to be solving a wrong problem there. All you need is to install blinds and control the light in the room If you're watching TV in daylight, it is probably you're watching any non-movie content and for that, there are quite a lot of cheaper options to buy miniled or full array led to get a bright TV for your daytime viewing and a flagship oled for night time movie watching. No matter how much light reflection it can prevent, if you're watching a movie under bright sun lit room, the picture will be somewhat washed out, and you wouldn't want that when watching a movie on such an expensive flagship TV display, that looks great under low lighting conditions.

@@SLICK8116do you not find it distracting to see yourself staring back at you in the black mirror that is glossy TVs? Even in a pitch black room. The TV produces light that lights me up. I find on my glossy TV it's super distracting to have a reflection of myself plastered over all darker content. Which that's the whole point of an OLED, to provide better looking blacks for darker parts of content. And that's the whole point of HDR, to provide very bright visuals on specific parts of the image. Combine those in a HDR OLED and you have a recipe for a reflection of yourself plastered over all your content that's sharp and bright enough that you could probably brush your teeth and do your hair in the TV reflection. I don't know why people say these anti reflective screens are good "bright room TVs". Personally I find they're more beneficial in dimmer or dark rooms so there is no haze on the screen and you can't see yourself.

If I knew I could get the S90D with QD Oled it be a safer buy as well full bandwidth which ps5 pro will take advantage of. I never understood the criticism of the anti-glare display. In most bright lighting conditions, glossy OLEDs become virtually unwatchable and the S95D pretty much solves that entirely. And for the times when viewed in the dark, the anti-glare becomes a non issue since there is no external light to diffuse. Plus, as a fan of watching films in theaters, I prefer the matte presentation over a glossy screen since it’s closer to what you get from a projector. Great review Caleb. Samsung may not be able to escape the outcome of the S95D's success, its a lose lose situation for them in the coming years unless they make 2 different OLED SKUs with identical specs for picture quality. I think some people will love the OLED glare free design so much that it would be a mistake for Samsung to cut it, but on the other hand you have to understand its not going to be ideal for all rooms and those people deserve a flagship on the same level with a glossy coating. So whats the solution? Maybe they have to make them the same specs but make the choice to give one the one connect box + infinity design while the other doesn't but as long they have equal picture quality and the same panel people would be happy with that outcome.

I have to commend whoever shot this because their ability to capture the TV is simply second to none. I almost doubt the S95D looks that great in real life.

Currently have a Q80B Samsung 55 inch, great TV for the money(paid$1000), but everytime I go to best buy I go look at the S95D and it has some of the best picture quality I've ever seen,but I think I'm gonna wait a little while before I plunge into debt again knowing I'll be paying at least $1500 more than what I did with what I have. Samsung has a good TV lineup and would like to thank them for a great product!

And this anti-glare on a screen is why I used my Mitsubishi WD-82838 up to a few months ago. I had lights on in the room and the dlp set didn't care at all! Upgraded to a 4k dlp ust with a 100" hard frenal ALR screen and it is great! I have lights on in the rear of the room where I sit and the screen does not even show the slightest of them being on.

my experience with this tv which i posted a video of on my channel best panel i have ever seen the ag coating is nothing short of a miracle and I see nothing wrong with it what so ever and that's from someone that despises antiglare coatings, only issue i have is that a light will diffuse more so than a glossy tv, so to me glossy is better, as i don't want a big ball of light in the picture, but overall i like to keep total darkness when watching a movie so it's something i can forgive installing the stand was a nightmare that made me scream a few times, you have pegs you have to line up in holes but you can't see what you're doing as it's all covered you have to hang it on a plastic piece then just push it down and hope you got it and if you only got one peg you have to redo, then you need to push it with your fingers to line it up for the screws to go in as it won't happen perfectly on it's own the screws won't go in as it's not lined up. the skipping is something I experienced too I also experience artifacting like the sky showing artifacts in a video, my sony a95k has an overall more detailed picture but I ended up forgiving that for it's amazing panel, I tried watching Godzilla on HBO max and it looks less than hd my sony did this so much better PC performance is just awful it crashes my PC it dims the picture as I am pushing the highest possible brightness it can handle and eventually it dims until I turn the tv off and on it's random sometimes it dims sometimes not, hdr is so broken that I am afraid of turning it on it looks awful when I turn it on but it's always been broken on windows, gaming mode is entirely broken and when turned on you lose half it's brightness so it's just awful i keep it off it's just so terrible, I have it set to 120 hz now for a more stable experience as 144 is just unstable, I am running on a rtx 3080 with a hdmi 2.1 cable, it worked fine on my sony a95k for years in 4k 120hz note that i am using the one connect box with the really low cable tizen os is by far the ugliest most complicated os I have ever seen and google tv is superb in comparison, you have to press home and settings and then you get a menu that covers the screen and then you need to press each option to adjust it, on google tv you press the settings button and you get a quickbar with everything and the menu on the side it's so intuitive it's not super attractive but at least it's not overly blue overall I think this is an incredible tv and even with it's awful PC performance i am justifying keeping it because the panel is just so beautiful and so gorgeous

What technical element of a WOLED would create a “More Inky Black Level” than a QDOLED? As a calibrator I have not noticed this.
@paulhoey98037 ай бұрын
I think it relates to the polariser or lack of in qd oled. I have a s90c and prefer it over the woled I've had before but I did notice lifted blacks with some ambient lighting a bit like the way a plasma screen isn't as black as traditional oled
@jnvivian7 ай бұрын
There are two parts for this. For second and third generation WOLED, LG Display gives those panels black surface treatments to absorb as much unwanted light from things like inbound light or light that the OLEDS generated but went the wrong way as possible. For second generation WOLED, LG Display uses a “Master Black” surface treatment. For third generation WOLED (which has MLA), LG Display uses a Vantablack surface treatment. For QD-OLED, the quantum dots are out in front, so any inbound light that has high enough energy photons will excite the quantum dots, causing them to get excited and generate photons that go somewhere. The antiglare coating helps here by scattering inbound light so that some of it is directed away from the quantum dots, so colors are less distorted by wrongly-excited quantum dots releasing unwanted photons. This is less of a problem in LCD TVs since the quantum dot enhancement film that converts blue light from the backlight unit is behind the LCD cell which blocks a lot of inbound light. I also currently do not know of any black treatments to absorb unwanted light in QD-OLED panels, but I could be wrong about this.
@SENCORE_ISF7 ай бұрын
Thanks guys, I was multi tasking during the original view. I didn’t hear Andrew say, “When the lights are up, I mean really up” Yes am aware of a moderately raised black level in that circumstance on QD OLED’s
@jnvivian7 ай бұрын
I have since found an error in my previous post. Samsung Display did add an anti-reflective layer to its second generation QD-OLED, but tests show that while it helps compared to first generation QD-OLED, second generation QD-OLEDs still reflect more than WOLEDs and some LCDs.

I have had the s90d for a few months and it has some quirks with VRR flickering in dark scenes when the frame rate fluctuates wildly. Another is that it does some weird stuff at times with stuttering that is annoying, especially in games. The menu and remote sucks. Might return it for an LG g3. I prefer the subtle matte anti-glare on the s90d as it's not too aggressive.

Yes Samsung PLEASE give us the glossy screen option on the flagship QD-OLED. PLEASE!
@rayenwoomed53237 ай бұрын
We bought the S95D 77” for $2000 off and ended up returning it. The reason? The anti-reflective coating causes blooming around bright highlights against a dark background, making it look like a mini-LED TV rather than an OLED with perfect contrast and inky blacks. This was while watching in a dark room too. Also the motion processing is bad. We watched the Champion’s League final and it was nowhere near as clear as our 4 year old LG GX. This issue persisted no matter how much I tinkered with the motion settings. We’re gonna get the LG G4 now instead.
@LittlePlant8887 ай бұрын
This is disappointing to hear, but thanks for sharing! That's a good bit of info to know. I am on the hunt for the perfect gaming tv and was almost decided on the s95D
@rayenwoomed53237 ай бұрын
@@LittlePlant888 Happy to help anyone that’s looking for a new TV by sharing my experience! To be fair, the blooming issue was mostly relegated to movie credits and subtitles. If you can look past that small issue, then the S95D is still a great TV, especially if you can get it on sale. The vividness of the colours is still something Samsung excels at. It’s just that the screen coating kind of “flattens” the image and gets rid of the distinct 3D look that OLEDs are known for. That’s why my family is switching to the LG G4. Even though its colours aren’t as vivid as the Samsung, the image has a lot more depth and really pops out of the screen, thanks to the glossy coating. Plus the motion processing is great for watching sports. But if you’re using it for gaming: I wouldn’t worry too much about the S95D. Unless you’re playing on a PC, in which case you’re limited to 120HZ, as the 144HZ mode doesn’t work properly with Samsungs one-connect box. But that’s something they might fix with an update. The LG G4 on the other hand is a fantastic gaming TV that does full 4k at 144Hz no problem. I’d ultimately recommend buying whichever one you get the best deal on if you’re mainly gaming on it.

I’m watching sports (NBA finals) with the S95D right now- I have to say it I just really like the picture of the TV. I was having audio dropout via both optical and HDMI with an expensive DAC I have had since 2013. I switched it out for one of those $30 HDMI audio extractor DACS, and no dropouts now🤣🤣 Looks great with Netflix 4K content … The uproar is all overblown stuff about the matte-like anti-reflective coating . I get it some people hate it. Whatever. If I were samsung, I would offer versions of next year’s flagship in both glossy and Matte just to stop potential customers from going crazy.

I’m glad I got the G2. But I’ll need another (bigger) tv eventually so idk what to do.. perhaps the C5 or S95E if they make it in an 83”

Last year, I grabbed the 95C during Black Friday for just €1,700-an absolute steal, right? But then, life threw me a curveball. The TV died on me, and I thought, “Well, that’s it.” But here’s where the story gets good: they replaced it with the brand-new 95D, at no extra cost. That’s right-the latest model for the same €1,700. Now that’s what I call an upgrade! Let’s talk about the experience. If you’ve used the 95C before, you’ll notice the difference right away. But here’s the thing-it’s not necessarily better or worse, just… different. And honestly, after a few days, I’ve completely fallen for the 95D. Performance-wise, this TV delivers big time. Whether you’re binge-watching movies or diving into intense gaming sessions, the immersion is unreal. That said, a quick heads-up: this model doesn’t come with Google Assistant, but you do get Alexa and Bixby. Also, in the early days, there was a bit of a heating issue, but it’s been sorted out with a software patch in the early days
