Just returned to this video and it’s still just as good. I still use mine and actually quite a bit on my last ambient album “Ambient music for Spaceports” instead of only relying on the Ebow. I’m also using it a lot on my solos for my Uncle Michael Metal stuff. I’m finding it adds that extra unpredictability and oomf I’m looking for. I do want to have a sustainiac pick up though. I’d love to have it in my Music Man but I don’t think I dare! Have you used one? Is it worth the trouble if you have this pedal and an Ebow? Hope you are well!

Wow, fantastic ! Many thanx for your sharing Mika ! I continue my way on your marvellous channel ! I dreamed to have this FX since 20 years. Happy to find it here ! My e-bow was too much complicated to manipulate during a solo... Yet, I've found a very interesting Fender runaway feedback with a cool control pedal ! Boss feedback booster is more a rough dirty on the end. And there's a very cool plugin by SoftubeStudios (acoustic feedback) and another one is the Bluecats AcouFiend. I share my search there...This could help...

🙏🙌 Thank you for sharing your tips about similar products. I got an ebow too, have had it since mid 90’s and i know exactly what you mean. It’s good for certain things. But giving up you right hand to operate is another thing. Will need to seek what the Fender runaway feedback is all about, never hear of it. please note: Freqout won’t give you eternal sustain, it just milks out everything out of even the smallest signal. when there’s no signal from your guitar it drops the sustain and feedback. but it’s still a wonderful pedal. I still use it actively, inportant part of my pedalboard and tone palette. Wax on!

Hello Sinner Train, I would like to buy this pedal for the same reason (sustainer), and just wonder if it does the job for you? Want to do some kind of Collen's Hysteria melody, and would like to know if it would be close enough to do it with the FreqOut... ;-)

So this is what neon sounds like on a rainy night. At least that's what it evoked for me :) I have this pedal and couldn't agree more. Does have a bit of a learning curve in terms of what you can/can't do with it and its, ermm, behaviour? for lack of a better term. It can do weird things when trying to track slides for example, but sometimes the unexpected results are cool and wonderful. My only nitpick with the pedal so far is that it can cut out a little unexpectedly sometimes. One thing that helps me with that is pairing it up with the Sustaniac pickup in my Schecter Hellraiser Hybrid and using the "natural" harmonic setting on the Sustaniac. You have to play with the gain/feedback controls for the pickup and pedal to have some control over which kicks in first but it's massive fun. I didn't really mean to write a wall of text, honest lol. This video is really inspiring and I'm a new sub to this channel + have the pedal, so perfect storm haha.
@MikaFastfinger7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the writing. Can't wait for all the upcoming adventures with this pedal. Like you said it can be sometimes a bit unexpected. The unexpected cut outs is something we need to learn to live with. I tried this pedal on my recent live gig. It acted werry strange. In all the hassle and everything that comes being on stage, i didn't realize I had it accidentally set to the highest squeal setting (5th?), instead of natural low setting which is pretty much currently my default setting for getting basic the feedback sounds. Next time I'll be more careful!!! Yes, was thinking sustainic pickup could be a nice pair with this. I'm not really thinking of getting one for myself but It's good to hear it works. I actually ended up buying this pedal as I was working on a song where I wanted to acheive a certain feedback-ish aftertouch to some longer notes. This pedal really did the job and helped me to achieve the sound I wanted. This tune is released as a single this friday. The video will also follow asap. Thanks!

This is amazing. Can you use this like an ebow, i.e. if you hold a note on feedback can you move to another note without plucking the note? Slide about basically?
@MikaFastfinger Жыл бұрын
Yes, if you slide (or bend) the feedbacl follows. The effect is actually quite unguitar like. When you slide accross frets the feedback sound follows accurately but smoothens the pitch. it sounds a bit like synth or flute.
@tcw8287 Жыл бұрын
@@MikaFastfinger amazing. I'll be getting one then haha I'll never be able to do what you do with it mind you
@MegaBrebis5 жыл бұрын
Very informative, thanks! It seems to me that this pedal cannot replace an eBow. Also the note sustain time seems to be limited to a few seconds.
@MikaFastfinger5 жыл бұрын
Hey! You’re absolutely right, it’s not a sustainer or a ebow. The sustain/feedback time depends on how long your guitar sustains the note. Even if there’s just a very little low volume note sustaining this pedal can turn it into a strongly feedback sounding sound.
@yamitanomura7 жыл бұрын
Looks like has a compresor, reverb, delay and chorus... and is applied different depending on your playing. This can open your mind for new compositions, I can't wait to see how high you can go with that pedal !!
@MikaFastfinger7 жыл бұрын
yamitanomura Actually no, Freqout only holds sustain / adds feedbacking effects in different ways other wise it's very dry. Echos and all comes from the pedalboard pedals and Cubase plug-ins. Check out any other videos with this pedal here on youtube for proper demo! I just played with it without too much thinking ;) And yes indeed this pedal will help me evolve as a player and a guitar singer!
@wasichu666 жыл бұрын
Beautiful exploration. I was debating getting an axe with a sustainer but generally don't like the sound, and it's tricky to use well. Just purchased this pedal so I can have the feedbacker on all my axes. Building a rig from bottom up, with a H&K GM40 and a pedalboard with a few additional fx. Question for you: where in the chain do you put the Freqout? especially considering I might use it for ambient stuff (beyond the obvious hair metal squeal ^^). Thx man.
@MikaFastfinger6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! wonderful thing. I think the pedal works best if you place it as early as possible. the way the pedal follows your playing might get weird of you place it after delay or modulation. altough that could occationally be interesting too ;) For most versatile setting and best tracking i use it as the first pedal on my board. very useful pedal, still very much hooked to it.
@wasichu666 жыл бұрын
@@MikaFastfinger Thx for the kind reply. Being from the hair metal generation I will always cherish that style, but looking to do other things on guitar as well. Building a rig to handle more subtle stuff like my all-time favorite Gilmour, but also I'd like to try my luck at some ambient guitarscapes with Native American flute (not syrupy new age music! more like the Carlos Nakai from the 90's but obviously more modern) and I'm very impressed and inspired by what the Freqout does to clean sounds. Plus, it does 50's sci-fi movie sounds hahahaha. Rock on man, you're a fresh breath of air with your music.

Hi is this pedal a viable alternative to sustainiac pickups?
@MikaFastfinger2 жыл бұрын
this is a different thing. This will not give you endless sustain. It just mimics the feedback sound and aslong as there some sound from you guitar it sustains full on. But when the note dies, the sustain dies.

Awesome! This was the demo I was looking for, more "clean" tones instead of lead guitar with od or distortion. Does it also work with laying down small chords (like 3 notes) to get a kind of pad sound?
@MikaFastfinger6 жыл бұрын
Great! When you play chords this pedal smells the first note it hears and sticks with that. for example you arpeggiate g-b-d, the pedal picks g. of course if you play all the notes simultaniously it might pick some other other note too... in this video you can hear how i used this "function" as i use the pedal to create pedaltones and then play more notes on top of this.

@MikaFastfinger4 жыл бұрын
The two pedal are complitely different. Plus pedal creates infinite sustain (if i remember right). Freqout mimics the feedback sound but will not give you eternal sustain. you will get feedback sound only as long as your instrument gives some signal. When it drops, it drops ;)
