Thanks for taking the time to make a more in depth video on this. Most videos seem to gloss over it. I was looking at this, but I ended up going with the YK940. You loose the portable screen, but the you get much better video output more video settings, and end up with an MPEG-4 AVC file at 15MB on the highest setting . It is also a little cheaper then the DigitNow. I have done a video on using it to rip VHS tapes on my channel. Thanks again for the video. Also always nice to see another Linux user (Use Win and Linux myself) Have a nice holiday.

I just tried a 128gb SD card and it worked! The key is to make sure it's formatted as FAT32 and not EXFAT32. If it is EXFAT32 you can convert it to FAT32 just by looking up youtube tutorials. It's easy. Before I did this my micro SD card kept saying Memory Full.

Hello! Can you tell if when recording long movies there is so that the voice goes earlier or later 3seconds than the movie? If I record a 2-hour movie, does the voice in the whole movie go in line with the image without delay?

The screen cut off from the old tv probably is called ' safe area ' thingy if I am not mistaken. Last time when I learn how to edit from a teacher he always told me the place my text within a text area box in editing software so that it will show probably on tv. That was 20 years ago.

I'm having trouble with the picture and sound syncing correctly. The picture is usually way ahead of the sound on some recordings. How do I fix this or what setting can I use to keep them in sync?

a general rule with capture is to try to capture shorter clips and fix in editing!

It sounds like you're more looking for a device that can capture HDMI source. This device is good for old analog sources but not newer digital sources. I do have a video on a atsc modulator. That is what I use on with my hdhomerun or a over the air DVR to record my digital source. But I do know there is signal devices that will do what you're looking for on eBay

Is the quality on the captured video decent? because every method i ve used to capture vhs (usb, video-in cards) turned out to have a major quality loss up to 80% from the original source. The only way I ve managed to do this without any quality loss was to connect my vcr to a dvr. I was keeping my dvr in the basement for 6-7 years until my grandma throw it away. She thought it was broken...

Did you get any green flickering when playing back video on your computer or other devices? I tried playing back the video on my laptop and phone (inserted the sd card into both) and there was green flickering ever couple of minutes or so. Is that related to long recording times? It was a 1.5 hour long clip. Also, the resolution on this is so small, yet the file sizes are huge! Nearly filled up a 16gb card with the 1.5 hour long clip!

I think that can be possible from your video player drooping out signal from the tape! I forget if there may be a setting to reduce that!

@@rusty_562 yeah, bought this a year ago and well, didn't work as expected, the frames are laggy and sometimes you got data moshing, plus the device is extremely sensitives to shaking and temperatures shifts... with means when you film a part in the cold it tend to mosh/lag even more, same for the hot times of the year... don't buy this if you want to go tapeless on a VX or something similar, I can recomend you this device tho: PowerPlay - FPV DVR from immersion rc is a the better option you could get for almost the same price, it's smaller and you will be able to fix it on the cam easily

No one on the internet/KZbin has a detailed info on HOW to upload TO KZbin. On doing so, via the Arcsoft free software, the option to do so, said "Can't connect to internet, check your internet connection" (When my internet was ok/working on anything else!) I've thought of getting one of these little things but reading the reviews some people have had issues with these. I watch a lot of the paranormal Ghost hunting shows on TV and one of the shows uses something like this for their cameras. I might be getting that instead if I can find info on it.
