Let's Play King's Quest 6 - part 2 - Abdul Alhazred

Alexander discovers where he is, but that he's not quite welcome there. Fun fact: Abdul Alhazred is named after a fictional character created by H.P. Lovecraft, and Saladin is named after the first Sultan of Egypt and Syria.
And is it obvious yet how much better the voice acting is in this game compared to KQ5? :)

That's the voice of Tony Jay. He was the voice of Frollo in the Disney movie The Hunchback of Notre Dame. He was also the voice of the man who ran in the asylum in Beauty and the Beast He has done a lot of voice overs for cartoons and games. This man had an incredible voice. Sadly, he passed away from complications of surgery when he was having a noncancerous tumor removed. Hope this helps. :)

One of the best adventure games of the early 1990s. Played this game with my sister back in 1993-1994, somewhere around there. Back then we couldn't just consult a walkthrough like we can nowadays, there was actually help phone lines we could use, but of course you had to pay to use them. You sir, deserve more subscribers.

Yess!! I played 5 and 6 back in the early 90's, best 2 games out there period ... aside maybe from the commander keen games. Yeahh I remember scrambling to go to the library after waiting weeks to get a book that I put on hold called 'the kings quest companion' with a guide to get you though the game. My sisters and I were stuck in kq5 for I think probably 6 years never being able to get past the damn yeti cause I swear to you an earlier version of kings quest companion tells you to, and I quote *use the slapstick to make the yeti laugh and fall off the cliff* ... and we are like where the hell is this slapstick .. so we probably spent 6 years clicking on everything to find it. The pie is a lie! The pie is a lie!!

Fridge logic! I've known this game for years, but this just now occurred to me: Did Graham never tell his son what Cassima told him about the vizier? She specifically linked him to Mordack ("My father employed a horrible vizier, who befriended Mordack."). And here's Alexander talking to the vizier about Mordack, among other things, apparently clueless as to their friendship. I guess someone forgot that little detail (in- or out-of-universe).

@arfan5890 I don't think he's got the bad swimmer gene; he could swim fine in KQ3 (sharks notwithstanding), and the currents being incredibly strong is actually a major plotpoint in this game. :)

How are you playing the game? I recommend using either DOSBox or ScummVM, audio should not be a problem with those.

I like the narrator to KQ6, the one in 5 seemed like he had troubles reading his lines and was trying too hard to be interesting. The narrator in this game is like a narrator that is in a big budget audiobook production. His voice is soothing and interesting. I guess it helps that the dialogue is much better written too.

Doug Holmes You will find a similar comparison with every voice between KQ5 and KQ6. KQ5 was Sierra’s first talkie, and every or almost every voice actor in it was a Sierra employee. KQ6 is often considered Sierra’s magnum opus (greatest work) and every voice actor in it is literally a professional voice actor, with the exception of Josh Mandel as Graham again.

I didn't have much trouble with it back in the day with WIN95/DOS, but now you probably could get it to work with SCUMMVM.

Why would Alexander hoard away copper in a chest? He had easy access to the Magic Chest and could easily carry gold from it. Maybe the (non-magical) chests of gold were lost or jettisoned. Maybe Alex was backing his gold up with hard currency.
