Sleeping in the bed with Z’s, sweeping, dusting, the butter churn, chickens, and the murder if you get caught by Manannan. Candles on the wall, hunting trophy on the wall, portrait on the wall, [redacted for CB spoiler], a study, shelves of books, and the required observation of the environment to be able to win the game. Fun CB fact: As time progresses in the game, the coffee pot on the stove goes from full to empty.

I know the point of Myst, Riven and others is about the journey. This ending was very anticlimactic. And seriously Atrus just bounces and leaves you with the whole island falling apart. I'm about to play Myst 3 and read the books, so i may find something out i missed.

I know im almost 12 years late to this but I really don't like this bad ending. Saavedro could have been a really good sympathetic villain and was honestly feeling like one in the game considering his backstory but then you got this that just takes all that away and has him screw you over in a way a pure villain would do. If I were making this I would make it to where he is so happy to see the transport ship ready to go that he has this big speech about his freedom, drops the book on the ground, and leaves forgetting all about you. This still makes him sympathetic since he has been trapped so long you can kind of understand his mind being hyper fixated on the fact he can finally leave PLUS it would make for a great visual to see the book you desperately need just out of reach thanks to that mistake. Just my opinion anyways.

Wow the audio quality in this opening intro is atrocious. It sounds like Sierra had compressed it quite a big but I don't remember the in game characters sounding so muffled

I love how desolate and hopeless age 233 is. Especially the impossible rock formations, as if ghen tried to write in mountains but fudged the algorithm. In the remake the scale of it is massive too, its really cool

The starting screen on the DOS command line is a nice touch-reminds us how the games started and how far we’ve come, and gives that authentic Sierra gaming experience. “Daaaad? How do you turn on _____ Quest?” *dad eventually writes down instructions and tapes them to computer desk*

So this is where the idea for Firmament came from.
