That's exactly what I always think too when I hear Bob Power lol. Earlier I heard of Q-Tips production influence on Mobb Deep and hearing how their process w Tribe was and the story of Dilla making arrangements so quickly it is really mind blowing. The way the collective with D'Angelo & ?uestlove literally studying Dilla beats the same way they studied legends like Prince & Stevie Wonder. It makes me think The Love Movement was influenced in a big way by the Legend James Yancey J Dilla. What a musical history. Needs a film.
@BackToTheBoomBap2 жыл бұрын
@@okrabanana7211 yeah a Dilla movie would be awesome! J Dilla was just ahead of his time. That's why when he started working with Tribe, a lot of fans didn't like it. The sound was different from their previous albums. But Dilla had something special since day one and he probably produced the lion's share of the beats on The Love Movement and BRL. But he felt like he wasn't getting the credit he deserved. That's what started to cause him to move differently and seek to pave his own way. And I believe that he eventually got to live that out to some degree before his untimely death.
