well... we gotta find our options as civilians... A vet machine gunner who trains with us wanted a machine gun... or something that can become one if shit ever hits the fan... I built him an ar10 with light buffer + 22" . 2 barrels and he carries it with 100 round drums on the backpack... his primary is an ar15 of course. Is it heavy? well... as he usually says... he carries 2 barrels... and 2 bcgs... his 100 round drums are the heavy part of carrying it. He carries them in an assault backpack prepared for the purposed of fast deployment of his 7.62x51 Ar10 Machine Gun!!! I carry my Ar10 for precision shooting... but it also goes brrrrrrt lol

1:7 twist throwing saboted 90 grain ALCO Bullets' 0.224 inch projectiles at 4, 150 fps or so, or, .338 Federal Ackley Improved at 4,300 fps from a 20 inch barrel for a 90 grain ALCO Bullets' .22 caliber, or, tungsten and copper internals on a 90 grain with an identical form factor (0.627 ballistic coefficient), or, 253 grain .338 caliber Raufoss multipurpose projectiles at 2,600 fps with a 0.554 ballistic coefficient. I like the .338 Federal Ackley Improved for .308 platform conversion, theoretically. 90 grain saboted at 4,300 fps exhibits the same recoil impulse as M118LR if I recall correctly. Seems fun.
