This Aspen event shows that Monty Python, individually and collectively, are geniuses of humor. They demonstrate that everything, at any time, can be funny and that we shouldn't take ourselves - or any grand ideas - too seriously.
@christhornton17859 жыл бұрын
I first saw this show when it was originally on and when they knocked over the ashes, I laughed so hard I fell out of my chair. Have always been a huge Monty Python fan and the "Search for the Holy Grail" is probably my favorite comedy movie. Perfectly "Pythonesque".

This was at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival. There was also a Cheers reunion at the festival, that’s why most of the Cheers cast is in the audience. Also interesting to note is that John Cleese once had a guest role in an episode of Cheers, and he won an Emmy for that.

The world seems like a smaller place when these guys are in the room. There's no other group of literary majors that would decide to forget about their books and take the time to make the world a little bit (a lot) happier with jokes, tv shows, and movies. Thank you MP Sincerely, the future

They surely will be remembered for ever, their names will echo through every theatrical genuinely well designed comedies and their names will be recorded in books and they will certainly go down in history as one of the most humble worthwhile, creative, transparent actors in the uk history. And i know this because I as an historian will make sure of it by spreading their work through my books. "once upon a time there were a bunch of guys not withstanding the bored to death conventionalisim of their time and decided to embark onto the terrifying journey of making a living by making people look on the bright side of life.

It's so nice to be an Englishman with an absurd sense of humour. We may no longer have an Empire and Dominions over the sea, but boy we can still laugh at the silliest of things. I'm not sure if it's our eccentricities that shape our comedy or the fact that through the ages we've been brought up in a regimented education system. God Bless these guys, whose humour I grew up with. The end song with Graham's 'ashes' rhythmically moving with the singing just about sums up their irreverent look at life!

@dawnkindnesscountsmost5991 Жыл бұрын
12 years ago, KZbin showed the dislikes, and stopped showing them a few years ago, maybe a year or two before the pandemic, I don't remember. There could be a few now; only the channel runner knows. Let's all hope that, if there are dislikes, those humorless people who put them there find some humor in their cheerless lives, for their sake as well as for the sake of those who have to live and work with them.

With all the reboots and ideas for tv-shows going about, I would love a show that was about the production on Monty Python's Flying Circus. It would probably take some good actors with hellish chemistry between each other to make it work though.

It's sad. I loved them since the 80s. Even though we get many comedians that are funny. I don't think we will get a group like this again. I know it's a cliche, but it's true. Think about it. Never a new "spam" or "dead parrot" sketch... it's all been done before now. I am 53 and it seems like the quality of entertainment are on a downslope ...
