We the people have to be the megaphone and I'm sure will be towards the end of this 4th turning when everyone is super pissed off.....hopefully not at ea other, but smart enough to understand the need to band together and stand against the right people and agencies responsible for the forth turning in the first place. Without change....the first turning is a long ways off.

This segment is one of the very very best discussions explaining and stepping back with a big picture with interworking details ,fed money, debt, rates, historical perspective, future perspective, politics, cause and effect, the players, and more. One part that really hits home is the place of the boomers 1962 here at the tail end using grandma Minnie's 1893 perspective and interest .

I always appreciate Danelle’s honesty and insights. I love how the market keeps mentioning the “strong jobs / labor market” in their decision making. Meanwhile I’m on LinkedIn every day and seeing countless job seekers with degrees and experience either being laid off or crying for help landing a new job. So much so that a growing number of people have put a “desperate” banner on their profile saying they have exhausted all options and can’t seem to land a job. The discrepancy between what the data says and what our reality seems to be are so stark. This country and the markets are in for a rude awakening.

My kids are now responsible adults raising their own children and not expecting anything to be handed to them for simply existing. I hope Danielle does run for office but I shudder at the cost to her family whom she clearly cherishes. The process is so brutal good people don't want to put their families through it so we are overrun by self-interested yahoos. Keep doing the next right thing!

The Savings and Loans crisis in the 80s changed the mortgage industry from one where you could transfer a mortgage for a small fee under the S&L system to a system where the banks originated the mortgages and required a complete new mortgage on any home sale and thus many fees associated with it along with a reset of the amortization schedule. That has now continued to the system we have today with all the refinancing mania and pile on of fees just for an average person to close on a house.

Too many Americans have used their personal homes as ATMs. Our former neighbors always refinanced every three years because of their debt level. When she divorced in 2006 she refinanced her home, and pulled a lot of money out (new convertible and new sunroom). I told her that this was very dangerous but I quote, "Homes always go up, I am not afraid." In 2009 she claimed predatory lending to get her mortgage lowered both the amount and the interest rate down to 2.99% when 2.99% was UNHEARD of. The Dems always reward BAD BEHAVIOR and those that make good decisions are forced to pay for those that refuse to accept guidance and go down a very dangerous path.

This story about the 70+ year old with life savings tied up in non touchable assets in real estate, paper home value, and CD’s is exactly my storyline. My wife and I have been saving since the 80’s and both of us were high income producers. Today about 80% of our savings is in the stock market with the balance in CD’s, bonds, cash and our home. Another wrinkle you can add to your story is because of the growth value of the stocks for income reasons we can’t cash them out without tremendous tax implications. So we don’t sell stocks to avoid paying all the taxes. We have saved but are scared to take any risks with what we have knowing we will never be able to recreate the wealth if we loose it.

As a current teamster there was a time that I was on board against the unions. but as big business got bigger I don't see a way to even up the playing field. immigration is the next biggest problem as they force the wages down by letting undocumented(illegal) workforce in . this doesn't help anyone except those businesses. I think Unions are tricky in the modern day. There is a reason people fought a literally died to get them, unfortunately most of them do not do what they were intended for anymore. That's not entirely the fault of Union corruption either, they have been dis-empowered so they largely can't fulfill the role they should (which begs for increased corruption as they try to stay relevant). The US teachers Union is a pretty hideous example, it's probably the most powerful Union in the US, and teachers are horrendously underpaid... so WTF are they doing? Don't dig into that one, you'll make yourself sick. TLDR, I don't like Union bashing, but it's true that many Unions are quite bad.

A bifurcated America is coming. I live retired in the Philippines where I see a bifurcated economy in place. The problem with a bifurcated economy is that everything is about the haves and have nots. Was it like that in America when I was growing up? I do not think so. But I was young and naive and may have not seen the needy. I do not know how to deal with this new way of life, except learn how to say “no” to the needy and when to say “yes” as need trumps my principles.
