Hi. I had a JP6 and the 3 way switch it was a 12 pin DiMarzio EP 1111. It was full humbucker on pos 1 & 3 and inner coils split in the middle without any push pull. This diagram is more like a Ibanez JS without the push pull of the Volume (treble bleed)

it's really good and helping, it'll be better if the drawing pot is facing down. so we can see actual wiring on guitar position.
@stringbreaker872 жыл бұрын
Translating this to a CTS push/pull pot which has a slightly different layout, the first thing you did is ground solder points 1 and 3 to the body of the push pull pot. So from top to bottom (knob facing up) on your layout a CTS push/pull pot solder points would be labled as: 1 - 3 C1 - C2 2 - 4

Hi dude! The Dimarzio manual indicates that in both the CrunchLab (bridge) and the LiquiFire (neck), the blue and the bare wires are connected to the ground, and the red wires to the switch. In your video, regarding the LiquiFire (neck), you suggest the blue wire goes to the switch, and the red and bare wires to the ground in the neck pickup. Doing that, you will have the same setup that Dimarzio suggests, but with the Liquifire pickup in reverse phase. Am I correct? If not, please clarify this. Thank you.
@musicalwolf108010 ай бұрын
well, what you are saying is correct, if you mean by blue is black, there is no blue cable, there are red, black, white, green. petrucci use both pickups in reverse , which means the signal goes from green, white, black and then red (which is ground in that case) but as both pickups are in reverse, there is no reverse here :) in liquifire the signal starts from green to white, black and then red which is the ground, while in crunch lab the signal starts from black to red, green and then white which is ground in the case, that change to make the coil split is the 2 mid coils, incase you are not going to do coil split, so connect both greens to the switch, both reds with bare to the ground, black and white connected together for each pickup alone and cover the connection. is that clear or not? if you listen to me at 4:30 you will understand what I wrote :)

@@musicalwolf1080Thank you for the clarification. I mentioned "blue" in reference to the schematic at minute 1:04, but I'm aware that Dimarzio uses the color green. My Sterling JP70 was initially wired according to the first schematic. However, I've since added a CL and an LF. This prompted my inquiry about the reverse configuration in your schematic at 4:30. I wasn't initially aware that CL was also in reverse.

hi there. just a quick question about the orientation of the liquifire pickup. does the side where the wire is coming out has to be on the neck side? thanks

Hi there! Thank you very much for your video, I have been looking for the configuration of john petrucci for a long time! I have a question, do you think that circuit works if I have only custom pot (two EP 1201)? I'm an amateur and it's going to be my first setup
@musicalwolf10803 жыл бұрын
It will work, but you need to use the driller to increase the hole pot diameter in the guitar

Sorry for being late to the party, hope you are doing well and are still willing to answer to some random guys question :D I am currently doing some mods on a guitar that has JP LF/CL set in it. The guitar is a custom handmade one (Copy of a Blackmachine guitars model) and unfortunately it is way too thin and small to install 2 pots with current switch and volume pot setup, there just is no place for a tone pot... So my question is, would it be possible to do wiring like this with only 1 push pull volume pot? And if it is, would you care to explain it to me, or draw it or whatever... I know i am asking much but every kind of help would be very much appreciated, thank you in advance :)
@musicalwolf10807 ай бұрын
yes you can, you need only 1 push/push or push/pull pot, everything will be the same except you can ignore the tone pot, connect all pickups wire to the push/ pull in the volume as you want, and from the volume direct to the cable socket
@Furiossa.7 ай бұрын
@@musicalwolf1080 Thank you very much for your answer. So if i understood correctly, i wire the pickups exactly the same to the push/pull pot... But im curious about the wire that is going from the 3 way switch to the volume pot, should i wire it in the middle pin of the push/pull pot or to the right side? The output goes from the middle pin to the input socket, toggle switch wire is the only one that is confusing me, thank you in advance :)
@musicalwolf10807 ай бұрын
@@Furiossa. yes , the wire that is going from the 3 way switch to the volume pot goes to the right side, and from the middle pin to the input socket guitar cable. 1 wire is the signal, the second wire is the ground, both can be in the same cable (cable with 2 wires) or 2 different cables each cable is 1 wire, better 1 cable with 2 wires. In the drawing I use 1 cable 2 wires ( gray is for signal and black dashed line is for the ground)

@@agusmulya2034 if you are using JP model take care from the pots hole diameter with the new pot you buy, also the pickups mount holes were smaller than the screw of the old pickups so needed to large the hole a little bit with the driller, last thing remove the foam under the old sterling pickups and add it to the dimarzio pickups so you can adjust the pickup height, and don;t try to use the springs which come with dimarzio pickups, use them in case of pickups rings
