“Stranger“ symbolizes rebirth. The reincarnation. This performance is full of symbols. Everything - the music, his voice, his movements, lyrics, the whole staging, the lights, the slowly moving light circle behind Dimash at the very beginning, absolutely everything you see and hear shows the whole birth process, from the beginning to the end. At the beginning 9 man and 9 women carry candles /the small light of life/. They hide Dimash. The spinning orb of light behind him in the background shows the deep space from where our souls arrive. At the beginning, a fingerprint also appears there, which is associated with the person's identity. The crazy melismas and high notes in the middle of the song symbolizes mother's pain. At the moment he was born, the candles go out and the stage goes on fire. His fist punch and coming to the front of the stage means he was born. The longest note at the end shows his very first breath and it means I arrived. Absolutely mind blowing performance. Thank you for your great reaction.

He is so awesome, isn’t he? Stranger is one of my absolute favorite songs. I get goosebumps every time I hear it. I’m a real fan of movies that have such a mystical or oriental atmosphere. And it was such a great idea by Dimash to use the Qobyz for that. The Qobyz is a very old two stringed Kazakh folk instrument and it’s wide spread among Kazakhs. The man who often is playing the kobyz in Dimash’s performance (also here in Stranger) is the best on this instrument and a good friend of Dimash. His name is Olzhas Qurmanbek. You often can hear this instrument when Dimash sings in his native tongue like Samaltau, Qairan Elim or Òmir Òter. As a Kazakh he speaks Kazahk and Russian fluently. He sang Stranger for the first time at New Wave in Sochi, Russia in 2021. This is an international competition for young artists, founded in 2002 by Igor Krutoy. Dimash sang here as a guest and was also a member of the jury. Igor Krutoy, like so many other masterpieces, wrote this song specifically for Dimash and his incredible vocal range (in this song alone he sings 5 octaves F1-F6 I think). And the last note he held for 20 seconds. The way he switchs so affortlessly between the different registers and octaves in one song is so mesmerizing and unbelievable. Stranger was written by the famous Russian/Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter Igor Krutoy. His and Dimash's collaboration created true masterpieces. He writes songs that only Dimash could sing with his vocal range, such as Olimpico, Stranger or Ave Maria. You’ll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano. If Igor Krutoy is there, the song was also written by him.The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It’s more like a father/son relationship. He wrote this song and others especially for Dimash’s wide vocal range. Please react to Olimpico from his Arnau concert in 2019 next. In this song he sings in Italian. You can find it on Igor Krutoy‘s Channel. Olimpico is another masterpiece that Igor Krutoy wrote especially for Dimash’s vocal skills. It was written for the 2nd European Games in Minsk, Belarus 2019. And that’s why the lyrics are also very motivating. This song and this performance from this Arnau concert is my absolute favourite🥰 I think this version is the best, because his performance is so intense and breathtaking. The light show, the background dancers. Everything. With this song in this version I always get breathlessness. The way he represents himself on stage, the hand movements. I think he has incredibly beautiful hands🤭(and apparently many cameramen think so too, since many of the camera shots during his performances very often only show his hands. Sometimes it seems as if he is conducting himself. This is really fascinating). And the facial expression, the look. There he looks so commanding😱. In my opinion, this version of Olimpico is one of the most impressive performances ever. If you don't know what the song is about, you'd think he was going to war and is calling his army to a lost battle 😅! It’s absolutely stunning. And I don't even mean the vocal part, but also his stage presence. The whole package. Oh wow I’m starting to rave again…🤤 Sorry but I can’t help it🥺. I swear it is mind-blowing 🤯 kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpyzhGmqbZmknZY Greetings and love from Germany👋❤️

Dimash, Igor Krutoy (Conductor, composer and producer), Yerlan “Erlan” Bekchurin (arranger) and Olzhas Qurmanbeck (Master of playing the Qoobyz or “Kobyz”, which is a two-stringed bipolyphonic instrument of Kazakh origin, very sacred in Kazakhstan): The Magnificent Four! Olzhas Qurmanbek plays the kobyz, magnificent performer!! Dimash had the great idea of including this instrument in the song composed by Igor Krutoy. (Another of his successes was including a sybyzgy in the cover version of "Hello" by L Richie in "I am a Singer", 2018). Dimash is a vocal chameleon and a very good arranger. Average person has 1 Octave, Good quality singers have 3 Octaves, Freddy Mercury had 4 Mariah Cary has 5. Dimash has 7 & can whistle note into the 8th Ovtave. Dimash is not just about Octave range, as he includes a huge number of more subtle vocal techniques. That soft projected whisper at beginning is very difficult. The transitions between Octaves and switches from chest to head voice are butter smooth. Pitch perfect on every note. Stunning vibrato on every Octave and that undulating goat trill takes incredible strenth and precision going up and down utilizing measured half notes. Incredible best on the planet singer. No one else is even close. May I request Dimash singing Go Go Power Rangers just for fun. He sang this for a Power Ranger Movie release in China. 🥰🥰Hugs from a Canadian Dear🇨🇦

This is the instrument you were inquiring about. The Kobyz, or Kylkobyz, is an ancient Turkic bowed string instrument popular among Kazakhs, Karakalpaks, Bashkirs, and Tatars. Its Kyrgyz variant is known as the Kyl-Kyyak. The Qobyz features two strings made of horsehair and a resonating cavity typically covered with goat leather.

He held it 20 seconds, his longest was on sinful Passion for 24 seconds, keep in mind that's forever to hold a note out. The instrument is a Kobyz very old string instrument. Interpretation is to the listener and in fact as I have listened to his songs over and over clarity seems to evolve for me. Dimash is G0-D8 sung live and he can go higher but will not that's 7.7 octaves
