HAPPY DIMASH DAY!!!
We have a double dose of Dimash today with versions of Adagio from the Singer 2017 and Sochi 2018! Now if only I can remember to keep my bathroom door shut!

Надо учитывать, что на Singer 2017 на подготовку песни давали 1 неделю. Плюс у Димаша по контракту были ещё концерты, помимо выступления на конкурсе. Подготовить такую песню за неделю очень сложно. Но он справился. А затем отшлифовал её. Вообще же, Димаш со времени победы на Славянском базаре в 2015 году поднял своё мастерство пения на другой уровень. И я считаю, что Китай ему помог радикально в этом. Можно даже сравнить, как он поёт SOS на Славянском базаре и сейчас. Он постоянно работает над своим голосом.

В новой версии нет хора и такой драматичности, но вокально чище и произношение лучше. Димаш не останавливается, развивается, учится, ему только 25, у него есть к чему стремиться, хотя для нас, его поклонников, он УЖЕ на Олимпе. Но Димаш большой труженник, он будет нас ещё не раз удивлять своими достижениями. И главное теперь, чтоб он был здоров и полон сил. Этого я ему желаю от всей души.

Dimash was not ill during this episode, it was the 8th episode singing Daybreak. This was his 6th episode where he won first place . This is a ballad song initially recorded by Lara Fabian, a Belgian singer / songwriter to whom Dimash looked up to and sang a lot of her songs after The Singer with Mr. Igor Krotoi. Dimash does a cover completely different from the original and make it his own. This was Dimash signature song in The Singer. He was perfect in this episode. Thank you.

Yes, he was not physically sick that day. Adagio was one of his performance in the Singer program of Dimash. The song he song sick when he was sick was daybreak like the person said. That is correct, it was during the week of his performance of Daybreak that he lost his voice. So he wasn't ill during this performance. But I will say that The Singer is not an easy competition with a grueling and hectic pace. Add to that Dimash's learning new languages to sing in. Потому, что Димашу операторы в Сочи подложили свинью, специально испортили микрофон, был такой "сюрприз", здесь убрали разговор операторов, отредактировал, но когда Димаша начал петь в эфир пошел разговор между операторами, поэтому пришлось Димашу как-то выкручиваться, к сожалению был такой инцидент.

In my humble opinion, his best performance of Adagio was - Singer 2017. He won that episode hands down. It was close to perfect. His use of all his ranges was outstanding. No inconsistency. He did use much opera in that too. He has never matched the intensity and realism of that performance since. It was a towering performance, enough to make Lara Fabian acknowledge it on Twitter and congratulate him. The second is easy/ going relaxed Dimash. In the previous he climbed with almost every phrase. He has more ‘trouble’ with the song now than before and hasn’t done a lot with this song since then. I don’t mind what he does, but there is no comparison. Ps. The ‘song’ is actually a piece for violin composed in the 1700’s by Tomaso Albinoni - the Albinoni Adagio. The great tenor Jose Carreras was the first to have lyrics, in Italian, put to it when he did a crossover album in 1996. Lara Fabian then had English lyrics done. It was a hit in Europe. Dimash is a Lara Fabian fan. Hence...

Exactly like R. Gray said, it is important to use the back story from Gloria Wu first to understand the reason for Daybreak & the problem Dimash had & the subtitles during the song & then watch the Bastau version for the difference in his singing & on the stage. Very emotional when you understand the story. In this song the reason his singing is better is he has been studying Mandarin & English & dance so all 3 are better than in 2017 & he now has a lot of songs with dancers since he is so good now.

Dimash was in china during the singer contest. He was alone and not with his own sound engineer team which every 7 days there is a new song to compete. He had so little time to work on each song with the chinese sound team and because of the language too. He had to do all his arrangement of the songs. And he did a perfect job on that episode. The one in Sochin he was the special guest on that show not a contest. Russia is like his second home. He speaks the language so no problem. More relax. I loved them both.

I really like the version of Adagio from the singer, I was not aware of problems with his vocals when performing Adagio, I thought it was when he was singing another song Both versions were outstanding I love Dimash. It was not Adagio where he lost his voice... it was His performance of Daybreak, where he had trouble from loosing his voice and he required medical treatment, Adagio was awesome... Episode 8 "Daybreak" is the one where some people pair up the Gloria Wu video from the Singer which describes the tragic circumstances behind the story of the song, and in her intro goes into the fact that Dimash lost his voice the day before having to sing, with the version from the Bastau concert, which is better vocally. Some people also pair up "Confessa + the Diva Dance" from the Singer with the Bastau performance. The "Diva Dance" is the song the blue alien sings in the movie "The Fifth Element", and he left out a difficult run in the Singer performance, but included it in the Bastau performance.

SaWD these two mentioned above are a must combos Daybreak on Singer + Daybreak at Bastau Firstly the song is tragic, written from a point of view of a boy who’s parents died in an accident as they lifted him to safety, must have subtitles on. Singer who wrote it adopted that boy. The performance on Singer dimashs voice was gone, he got some shots in his throat, sang then lost his voice again as soon as he got off stage. Bastau version is vocally so intense and better but both versions are very emotional. Confessa+diva dance (two songs in one performance)on Singer + Diva Dance at Bastau Confessa is an amazing song I LOOOOVE his tone on it and diva dance of course crazy. The diva dance at Bastau is better production plus crazy freakin run, you don’t want to miss that. ☺️☺️☺️

Dimash was not sick during this performance, this was an amazing performance as is all of his performances but the song he was sick and had lost his voice the night before and had to get shots in his throat was his performance of “Daybreak” and he still did incredible job with that also but that is definitely the performance he was sick during and the one you should do a double take on. Dimash gives 100% no matter what so it is going to be difficult to truly find any cracks in his voice unless it’s intentional and his transitions are always flawless! I like a lot this kind of reaction with two performances of the same song. For me, his performances from the singer are excellent and it's really worth to react to them. But as he did even better after, it's perfect to react to both versions and comment on the differences and his evolution through time. Also I reckon he was maybe a bit nervous for Adagio on singer after uptown funk not being received that well the week prior hence the few possible hiccups like the "so hard" line I think he meant to do it that way pitch wise but was more forceful maybe because he wanted to really bring out the emotion by catching the crowd kind of like catch in your throat when you're gonna cry? and Lara Fabian is a super emotional performer too just in a different way on this particular song and they aren't supposed to do strict covers if I remember correctly for this show. He can do that poppy genre surprisingly well too, if you ever see his concerts there's lots of upbeat pop music that he nails. I honestly always thought beyond the not being super eloquent in English at that point but the show also had screens of lyrics in front of all of the singers in multiple languages (so for Chinese singers singing English there was both Chinese and English running simultaneously at times) and I think that just throws you off you know? Trying to read moving lyrics where there's probably multiple different languages on the screen for him for the English songs. Even if you're not trying to read them sometimes they just catch your eye while you're singing. For example on the Queen medley done recently obviously he's worked his arse off on his English past couple of years but this was on the singer show as a guest with several vocalists who were competing this year and the lyrics were on a screen in front and there's a moment where he looks up in the performance and glimpses the lyrics and leave me turns into veale (or feel) me. I've had to do performances at shows where they insist every performer has lyrics running and it gets confusing especially when you're super into the performance as it makes you kind of doubt that you are singing the right ones so you go to check and then mess up haha. Just my two cents from watching his songs so much and my own unfortunate screw up at a variety show as a teen where we had to have lyrics running haha.

To me, all of Dimash's performances are equally excellent. It amazes me that people who deal with music and comment on performances are unaware of the correct pronunciation of the very common musical term "adagio" -- they should listen attentively to Dimash who pronounces it correctly. In phonetic script it goes like this: ɑˈdɑ:ʤɔ. But I'm even more amazed that n o t o n e of the commentators recognises the original melody. The melody is almost exactly 300 years old, "Albinoni's adagio", G minor, for strings and organ from the early 18th century. Albinoni's Adagio is generally considered the best music ever written. Consequently a reasonable assumption would be that commentators, "vocal coaches", and what not, would be very familiar with one of the best pieces of music ever written. Singer 2017 was when Dimash really hit a world stage for the first time. After that exposure he really went to work on other aspects of his talents that had previously not been a priority. He got better at languages, he observed and studied cultural differences/preferences, etc. Clearly, he quickly became much more confident and knowledgeable, all of which contribute to his ability to sustain and enlarge his appeal world-wide. BTW, as with all professional performers, I'm sure Dimash does have days when he's not feeling 100% but, claims by fans and others that such and such performer wasn't doing his/her best on a particular day should be ignored and not factor in to a review. Usually they are false and when they are not, face it, you are reviewing a professional who is choosing to be exposed to an audience's judgement at the time. They can handle it even if some of their fans cannot. Besides, it's easier for us mortals to connect with an actual human with at least some attributes we all share.

Thank u for the reaction. As for ep.7: (Daididau) you can do both the Singer programme version and Bastau from his channel. I much prefer for ep.7 the Singer version vs. Gloria Wu due to her editing his performance with few cuts that took away the fluidity of the performance.

The first performance of Adagio was brilliant and for this episode, Dimash won first place in the competition. Dimash was sick in another episode while performing the song "Daybreak" On the New Wave 2018, Adagio's second performance was the hardest experience for Dimash. At the very beginning of the performance, the microphone was turned off. You can see Dimash’s worried face, so he pulled out the monitor from his ear from the microphone and unstoppably continued the song. During the performance of this song, the recording of the musical accompaniment was terrible, the music floated, so Dimash had to sing the song very hard. By the end of the performance, he was exhausted. Then all the fans of Dimash were outraged by the poor work of the technical staff. After some time, I noticed a recording of this performance was edited. After this story, Dimash began to bring his people who were responsible for the technical support of the recorded music. Первое выступление Адажио в Китае было великолепным и оно принесло ему победу в этом эпизоде. Димаш был болен в другом эпизоде, когда исполнял песню "Рассвет". На Новой волне 2018 второе исполнение Адажио было для Димаша тяжелым испытанием. В самом начале выступления отключили микрофон. Вы можете видеть встревоженное лицо Димаша, поэтому он снял монитор от микрофона из ушей и неостанавливаясь продолжил исполнение песни. Во время исполнения этой песни музыкальное сопровождение было ужасным, музыка плавала, Димаш пел песню сильно напрягаясь. К концу песни он был измотан. The only thing imperfect about Adagio is his English accent which I overlook. His singing was flawless and powerful. The performance at The Singer where he was sick was Daybreak. That performance was also perfectly sung. The only thing lacking in The Singer performance of Daybreak was his power. The Bastau performance of Daybreak is the best performance to watch of that song. And yes. Dimash's bad days are better than most people's perfect days.

The difference to me was 1) the amount of time he was working on his English, 2) he did not play Piano, 3) he was trying to impress the crowd at Singer ( which they were impressed , Audience & backstage contestants). He surprised them all! Remember the backstage contestants had good laughs at him with what he was wearing for each song, then he opened his mouth, and shut them down. He should have taken 1st place, rather than 2nd. He was the only non-chinese singer there. He was learning Chinese & English for the songs. Lots of pressure!!!

Pretty much. He wasnt perfect though in Adagio #1, but not perfect for Dimash is 100% for everyone else
