"Samaltau" è una delle canzoni che ascolto di più, è emozionante. Sempre. Sia quando l'ha eseguita al"Tokio jazz festival", sia la versione del Digital Show sono fenomenali. Dimash riesce a trasmettere le emozioni, le paure di quei ragazzi del secolo scorso, chiamati alla guerra e costretti a lasciare l'amata patria e la famiglia, per andare incontro all'ignoto. Ogni canzone, ogni performance di Dimash, è un'esperienza ❤🇮🇹❤

This is a song about how they wanted to send the Kazakhs to a construction battalion, the Kazakhs, firstly, did not want to help their occupiers, and secondly, the Kazakhs were offended by the fact that they were sent to a construction battalion, because the Kazakhs are a very warlike people. from the very creation of the Kazakh Khanate, the Kazakhs fought, and in the 16th, 17th, 18th centuries they fought with technologically superior powers such as the Dzungars, the Chinese and the Russians who had cannons and gunpowder guns, the Kazakhs had a bow, arrows, an ax and a sword. And in many battles, the Kazakhs even emerged victorious with medieval weapons

love your reactions. You are fair and entertaining with your comments. I am glad you love Dimash, as do I, and I am surprised that I do because I am in my 70s but I have found that there is no age, gender, race, nationality, language, nothing that stops people all over the world from loving Dimash. He is special, no one else like him and I don't think there will be anyone like him again. I have never been a fan of anyone before so this is all new to me, but this young man has changed so much for me, especially when it comes to people all over the world, and how much about them I never knew and feel so blessed to learn now, thanks to Dimash. We truly are one world, one people. I wish everyone knew that.

Your prononciation of Samaltau and Daididau is perfect. When you spoke about the prehistory of this song, and you said that men were brought to build things to defense, Kazakh men were not okay with that, they were dying without a permission to have some firearms, barrels, they were like workers, didn't have a chance to fight and it was like if their lifes were not valuable for those who sent them there, at that time Kazakhstan was occupied, and so men then wanted to take guns in arms and be soldiers, not workers... And the song itself is so sad...😢

Dimash is really a great ambassador for Kazakhstan. With his music but also with his high values, he brings us closer to your country. You have a long, often very painful past, but there are values in your country from which we can learn a lot. I think he is an ambassador for you too, so that these high values are not lost. Modern times are good, but there is also a great risk of forgetting ancient wisdom. I wish the Kazakh people that they manage to preserve their valuable culture and thus show the world as a good example how it should be.

Here is playing the best Kobys player in the world, Dimash’s friend Olzhas Qurmanbeck. This bowl-neck lute played with a bow is is an old Turkic stringed instrument and called Kobys or Kylkobyz in Kazakhstan. The Kyrgyz variant, for example, is called the kyl-kyyak. The Kobys is the oldest string instrument in the world and, according to a German scientist, it spread beyond the borders of the nomadic area of Central Asia and became the prototype of all European string instruments. (Turkic means: The Turkic peoples are a collection of ethnic groups from Central, East, North and West Asia as well as parts of Europe and North Africa who speak Turkic languages.) A legend about Kobyz says that this instrument was created by the great steppe narrator Korkyt-Ata, who lived in the 10th century and that the tool is charged with magical and even mystical properties and sounds like animal voices. In addition, the Kazakh people believed that the spirits of their ancestors spoke to them through this music. The old outlook and piety towards their instruments and music was constantly preserved in traditional Kazakh society and ensured the highest spiritual level of musical art and a special respectful attitude towards musical instruments. Simple people, for example, did not dare to touch the shaman's Kobyz. It is said: The balance between the courses of life and death on earth can be maintained by playing the Kobyz.

It's very touching to see you three interacting as friends, there's a lot of warmth between you, and you're kind of funny and happy and very appreciative of the music! About this song it might be good to react to other versions.. The Silk Road Festival as the original performance is still one of my favourites, beautifully staged and dramatic, then the Tokyo Jazz Festival 2020 version is incredible, in his home studio, it's perfect! Thank you so much guys, for a year of reacting to my favourite singer on the planet - "music really has no boundaries" indeed, and thanks to the wonders of subtitled translation, neither does the language of reaction videos!😊 Before Dimash, I was mostly into mainstream rock and R&B from the UK and US, and always in English - so as you can imagine, stumbling across Dimash in May of 2019 rather changed all that! If you'd have told me I'd fall in love with Russian love songs such as «Love Is Like A Dream», operatic pieces like the glorious «Ulisse», or Kazakh folk music such as the poignantly atmospheric «Samaltau» that we visited today, I might have laughed in your face - and if you'd also suggested I'd never listen to my previous favourites any more, or that I could listen to just the one artist every day for two years without ever getting bored - well, I'd have called out a doctor for you! But that's the life-changing power of Dimash - and also of reaction videos, because if it wasn't for videos like yours, hundreds of thousands of Dears might never have never come across their favourite ever artist, so THANK YOU!! - and here's to your next year!🤗🎉💕

❤ Excellent review! So glad you enjoyed watching Dimash sing this song. "Qairan Elem" (original MV) is another song from the history of Kazakhstan during those times of war (1916). It wasn't until 1991, that Kazakhstan finally won their Freedom. Dimash sings songs from his Soul, with great Respect and Honor, for his Country and its peoples. Hope to see you again soon. ❤

Thank you guys for another sincere and appreciative reaction to Dimash and this haunting story. Samal Tau means breezy mountain. A heart achingly beautiful and a moving performance, sung with so much emotion and respect for this Kazakh story which was so tragic in other ways also. I read that all able bodied men from 19 to 49 years old were conscripted from the farms leaving a terrible shortage of men to work the land and many millions of Kazkhs died of starvation. From a fan in Sydney 🇦🇺👍

I enjoy your reactions as you are so observant, articulate, really interested in feeling the music and appreciative of Dimash's talent and sincere artistry. As men, you could truly identify with.the plight of the soldiers.ffirced through conscription into the war. The actual lyrics will give you even more insight as the song is about a young soldier far from home and the land he loves and misses, worried about his elderly parents, pouring out his feelings wondering what his fate and life as a soldier will be like once they reach their destination after dragging themselves along from sheer exhaustion. It"s powerful and heartwrenching. I can't imagine anyone else who could make it so real and emotional as Dimash does. I heard him say it was difficult to sing not because of the skills needed but because of the emotion and painful history of his people in 1916 "Dadidau", the other Kazak folk song you are familiar with, is a a beloved song about two people who had a deep love that are separated, one in prison learning his beloved may be leaving him. When he was younger, Dimash has dreamed of singing it and making it known to the world outside of Kazakhstan. His dream came true when he chose , much to everyone's surprise, to perform it during the 2017 "I Am Singer" contest and in the traditional clothing of his culture arranged for by his university music teachers who attended the performance. Now all the Dears know "Daididau" and sing it with Dimash at his concerts. He was awed when he heard Americans singing it in the Kazak language at his Barklay Center concert in New York.

On the one hand, tornado is events that disturb the peace, destroy unity, and uproot the identity of the Kazakh people that time. But on the other hand, it is a state of mind of a young soldier who does not understand where his path lies, the path to his native land, the path to a warm home. How can he find his way to his native source among chaos, destruction and oppression ?!

That was a sharman’s Kobyz (ko be iz), with 2 horsehair strings and a lower chamber covered in goatskin, for ritual and cultural use, that sounds like animals, cattle, wolves, eagles, natural sounds of the Great Steppe. Also for healing with it’s natural frequencies. The song is about being conscripted for soldiering into Russia on foot, leaving home and elderly parents to survive on their own, and looking forward hopefully to living through it and seeing them again alive.
