I literally stopped breathing the first time I heard Dimash singing this song. I was around when this was popular with Lionel Richie but I never felt quite as deeply connected to the song until I heard Dimash’s performance. I have three daughters and would be thrilled if any one of them brought someone even half of Dimash’s abilities home since they would also be incredible with half of what Dimash has! Unfortunately, because I like Dimash, my daughters won’t even listen to him. Very narrow minded! Love the reaction and cheers from Canada! (Happy Spring! It’s coming soon!)

Here it was 2018, when he was invited back as a guest in the finale of The Singer, and Dimash was saluting the people in China who had become his fans after The Singer competition from 2017, by replacing two "I love you"s with the Mandarin translation "wǒ ài nǐ", and adding one in kazakh at the end, "men seni süyemin". I'm always glad that I too am old enough to be Dimash's mom because you're right, I don't think I could bear it if I were his age!😆 He is entirely too beautiful!! A couple of songs with lovely high notes are "Our Love" from the Masked Singer and "The meaning of Eternity". LiLaSi made an absolutely gorgeous video to go with it. I think you would love it!! Dimash was the guest of honor at the final concert of the competition 'The Singer 2018' (Jessie J won). Lionel Richie liked the appearance of Dimash, his son-in-law was in the audience and was filming. I wouldhave liked to see Lionel's face. The whole life of Kazakhs is imbued with music, it sounds in ceremonies and rituals, in everyday life and at holidays. Dimash’s talent is unquestionable. But he oversang Mr Richie’s song. Just didn’t fit the tone/feeling of the song… I can’t think of a main stream song off the top of my head that allows Dimash the same vocal freedom he had with SOS… Always cool that he taps into a bunch of languages

Lionel Ritchie's management company holds all rights to his music. Ritchie cannot say who can and cannot perform his songs. Hunan TV did not obtain permission for a venue performance (which is standard international law), so there might have been a later agreement for Hello to not be sung again. There was an older man sitting in the back room called Tengri (who sings a song called Heaven, which is amazing) but he sings a duet with Dimash called Swan Goose, which is really fun. There's no denying the talent this young man has. I have watched every one of his videos at least 50 times. Yes...I am a Dear!! This was a guest appearance on Singer 2018, and there were some people in the backstage shots worth checking out when you get the time. One is Hua Chenyu, whose song "Nunchucks" is a good place to start. Another is Tengri, whose song "Heaven" shows a lot of dynamic control. Another person not in that video is KZ Tandingan, whose unique cover of "Rolling In The Deep" won Episode 5. There is also a short video of Jessie J, who was going to go on next, watching Dimash from the wings. At the end of verses 2 + 3, Dimash sang "I love you" in Mandarin for the Chinese audience.

Like in many other arrangements, Dimash melds sacred music traditions of different cultures and ages into something uniquely his own. In this piece, for example, you hear Turkic throat singing - the ancient song of the steppes - creating the foundation while Dimash’s melismas soar high above it. The music of ancient cultures often used chants, overtone singing, and melismatic techniques to induce a hypnotic trance in the listener. Music, according to Sufi teaching, is an expression of the overwhelming and perfect harmony of the whole universe-and that is the secret of its amazing power to move us at the Soul level. Dimash is not only aware of the power of music to alter one’s state of consciousness, he wields this power masterfully but with great respect, using his voice, body, and instrumentation to transport the listeners to a higher plane of existence. His friend since his teenage years, Erlan Bekchurin, is a brilliant arranger and is also steeped in Kazakh folklore. Together they create magic. The flute is a traditional Qazaq instrument called a sybyzgy. Also, for those who may not already know, he sings “I love you” in three different languages. First in English, then twice in Mandarin, “wo ai ni” and at the end, in Qazaq, “men seni suyemin.” What he whispers at the very end is “fei chang gan xie” which is thank you very much in Mandarin.
