My first time reaction nd analyses Dimash Kudaibergen's incredible vocals in this extract from the 1997 movie, 5th Element.
Could his physiology by similar to the great Australian soprano Dame Joan Sutherland? Both naturally endowed with terrific bone structure and larger than normal larynx.

He tosses off that song as if it is nothing! And it was written to be unsingable by a human. He has to be physiologically gifted and your observations about his anatomy are spot-on. I think we need to take into account that he was training his voice intensely throughout his growth as a child, right through puberty retaining the high range and continuing the training regime well into adulthood. There must have been an interaction between the training and the physiology giving us this extraordinary phenomenon that is Dimash. He trains not only his voice but his body as well, I believe I read that he swims underwater and excels in martial arts. Nature and nurture are intertwined in him.

I’m sure you are right and it’s a very good point that his physiology would have adapted to so much vocal development during his teens.

Thank you for this in depth analysis of this performance by Dimash. Most just say 'wow' with their mouths open. :D I believe that Dimash has learned from early on to have the most relaxed jaw that I've ever seen in a singer. There is no tension at all. He has no doubt that his mouth will form whatever shape is necessary and never struggles to get there. And Dimash has the most beautiful of voices no matter what he sings or what octave. Others may sing some of the same notes (although not ALL the same notes), same song, or even try to mimic him, but the end resulting sound is never as beautiful to hear. Dimash has something more in the quality of his voice. You could have other singers do a scale and Dimash do the same scale and Dimash's would be gorgeous in sound and stand out. Amazing. I am so glad that he is sharing his gift with us.

Wonderful comments Sandra. Truly insightful and well put. I fully agree with you.
@debbiemorgan859
@debbiemorgan859 Жыл бұрын
Agreed, there is a fullness and richness to his tone that is probably attributed to that beautiful strong jawline. A previous poster who saw him live and close up in New York described Dimash as having a jaw like an anvil! Most aptly put. I've heard a few other singers attempt SOS for instance and although they may reach the required notes they always sound thin and shrill.

I’ve seen Dimash messing about on a staircase singing bits of queen of the night, , just for fun. Have you checked out Li Yugang and Dimash sing Drunken concubine, where the two of them incorporate the 5th Element diva dance within the performance. It’s fun and Dimash does a whistle note and vocal fry too.
@anahills3836
@anahills3836 Жыл бұрын
@@debbiemorgan859 And also, Dimash has practiced "SOS" for about 10 years! I imagine the others haven't. It's a pretty tricky song and probably takes a while to master. So that gives him yet another advantage.

Dimash purposely went up into not often used rooms at the top of his music school getting in early, to extend his range upward, inspite of the fact that his singing teachers discouraged him, thinking he might damage his voice. But Dimash had decided what he wanted and continued to work at it. 👌

Another great reaction 😊,your description of dimash was amazing, it's true,he just has the physical ability that no one else does, it's not an insult to other singers,but I truly believe he knows what he has and has slowly developed the mastery of controlling it,which takes it to another level 🤯👽,I know you just did a diva dance,but could you please consider doing "drunken concubine/diva dance" when you can, it's definitely different than this performance,I believe it is the hardest technique wise song he has done,you are great at explaining to us his technique,I would love to see your reaction to this song, thank you

What fascinates me the most is, that he sang this song in his concert where he had already been on stage for almost 2 hours. Just unbelievabel🤯. There also is a fancam video from 2016 where he sang a part of Donizettis Lucia di Lammermoor, Il dolce suono, before Diva Dance. But unfortunately the quality is not good. He does not sing this aria in soprano either, but in his Tenor voice, I think. But it's still very impressive. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iHPUZ4GvpdZlh7c Greetings and love from Germany👋❤️

I always enjoy your reactions to Dimash because I know that you know what you're talking about! I recently saw a very old video of Dimash singing "Diva Dance" and he also sang the classical bit that comes before it. It wasn't a very clear video, but you might enjoy it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iHPUZ4GvpdZlh7c. I believe this is the link. Enjoy! I wonder if perhaps one reason that Dimash is so good is that he probably was never allowed to sing in the wrong way. Since his parents were both singers, I would imagine that they taught him good technique from the time they saw that he was interested.

It’s relatively unknown compared to the big name islands. Because it’s so small, it hasn’t been over-developed, still unchanged since 2015!!

@Bangkok Voice Coach Thanks. Yeah, I remember getting a speedboat from the pier and wading into the beach to get in. Brilliant.

The blue aliens voice is helped with computer help, Dimash doesn't need computer help. He also sings a D8!. If you would like to hear him sing a D8, go to the Gakku concert, and listen to him sing Unforgettable Day.

Thank you for the interesting insights about singers & their physiology! Another case in point is Floor Jansen, who is widely considered one of the best female vocalists today. She sings symphonic metal but has little difficulty with other genres as well. She is a gorgeous goddess well over 2 metres tall, muscular, with a big head & a big mouth that she can open very wide. Floor has a range of 4 octaves & has a beautiful pure tone. You should check her out 😁 As for the Diva Dance, you may want to look at another version Dimash did with Beijing opera singer Li Yugang. It's called Drunken Concubine & Diva Dance, and it's complete craziness 😂 Interestingly you could say that the song of the Drunken Concubine is also a kind of madness scene, so it's funny they chose that combination. There are videos of Dimash singing Il Dolce Suono from Lucia di Lammermoor, just not in combination with the Diva Dance. And he sings it more in the tenor range I think. Beautiful though : kzbin.info/www/bejne/oXbIaJWIZ9N2ns0 And someone took the trouble to edit a complete duet between the blue alien & spaceboi 😁👽🦄 which only goes to show that the Diva Dance wasn't arranged for Dimash slightly lower as some say: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b3awmWp9ZqaBmKM
