That's the thing that a lot of the critics of Dimash don't realise when they accuse him of showing off, he does exactly what serves the song at the time. He's extremely generous when it comes to dueting with other artists. If he wasn't then there wouldn't be so many artists wanting to sing with him. He even entered the Shine Super Brothers show because he wanted to learn more about performing as part of a group. Even though he left the show early due to ill health he left having gained much respect and admiration from his peers, who ended up loving him as a brother and a friend along with acknowledging him as a musical genius, not only for his voice but for his technical knowledge in being able to take a difficult composition and overnight make it work for 6 different voices including a rapper and a comic actor who had never sung before.

Even in Shine Super Brothers he only sang few lines and notes, making sure he doesn't overpower any of the singers with him and we all know they are tiny droplets in his ocean of talent and training with all due respect to all... He was very modest, a team player and a loving friend... I hate so much those allegations that he is a show off or sings with no passion... Such a shame in the right of a beautiful human being.

Yes - Wow! Aida is one of the greatest Soprano's of our time. Such a stunningly beautiful voice and so skilled. Lara's classical training is evident in everything that she does and she, in common with Dimash, also works continuously on maintaining and expanding her skills and her repertoire. She was known across Europe as 'The Bell' for the ringing crystal clear brightness of her upper notes. It's not surprising that Dimash and Lara's timbre match here - but I think part of that perfect blend is that their vibrato's exactly match also. Gorgeous😍

I think Dimash is a very generous artist in many ways---to the song, the audience, and the artists he performs with. Particularly when it comes to singing with other artists, you can tell that he modified his own voice and tone to compliment them, as he does here with Aida and Lara each differently Thank you for the wonderful reaction to this performance!! You should react next to Dimash singing Samaltau, a song in Kazakh, his mother tongue. He sings a number of Kazakh folk songs and imo they are where his “soul” comes through most prominently-when you hear them you can really tell they mean a lot to him. Flies directly in the face of anyone who says he is a emotionless show off singer haha. If you like Dimash, hearing his performances of traditional Kazakh songs is a must. She was and strangely enough that's why I love watching the fancam versions of this performance as you see it from an angle. When Lara comes on she sways a little and Dimash's arm goes around her to support her, he stays singing that way until he has to turn for the final trio part. I could never work out why he was standing so close to her until I saw the fancam.

I will never get over Dimash changing his vibrato to match each woman he’s singing with. Never! He’s the ultimate duet partner!! Lara was very sick here, so Dimash is being extra watchful in case she needs the ‘cover’ of his voice. This was the first time he met his idol, Lara, and after this performance she went home and wrote Dimash a song called “YOUR LOVE”. What a stunning trio of voices they make ❤️🇨🇦 From this same performance, Dimash sings ULISSE with Aida-it’s stunning, too.

Great reaction! You captured most of this amazing performance by 3 stellar vocalists. Let me add a few comments of mine: - as I said in another comment Lara was very sick and she delivered perfectly despite of this. Incredible! - Dimash not only used his fabulous lower register to give room for ladys to shine, he was gentleman ( and skilled) enough to slightly adapt his vibrato to melt better with both Aida and Lara - I always laugh to see him turning so fast to Lara: he was still singing with Aida but he could not hold it anymore. Singing with Lara was a childhood dream for him and this was his very first opportunity. See how he stare at her and hold her 😀 -I suspect Igor extended the last note more than normal as a kind of prank to his favorite singers. Look at the smile in his face 😂

Aida is a lyrical soprano. Dimash was locally trained in Opera and was offered a position at the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan. He turned that invitation down in order to pursue his neoclassic/classic crossover style in order to pursue a different direction for his career. This performance was at a birthday jubilee for Igor Krutoy. All of the participants in the concert including Andrea bocelli are people that Igor has either written for, worked with or who have performed his work. Also at the same performance there is a duet between Dimash and Aida and Dimash takes the high note at the very end. You may be interested to know that there is also a video of Dimash and Andrea Bocelli messing around vocally backstage at this performance.

I am not an opera fan, and took ages to listen to this, but the more I listen to it the more I like it and appreciate it. Lara has been a big favourite for many years and I agree her and Dimash seem made to sing together. I also love the smile and pride shown by Igor having the three of them perform his composition. He doesn’t smile much on stage but he couldn’t help himself. The ice skating also was awesome. I am in Brisbane, where are you, fellow Aussie?

Hello, really enjoyed your reaction. Igor Krutoy (the pianist) is the composer of this song and several others that Dimash performs. Word is, that he came out of semi-retirement to compose for Dimash when he heard his remarkable vocal abilities. In an interview Dimash mentioned that Laura was one of his favorite singers when he was growing up and he had always dreamed of singing with her someday. You mentioned Dimash singing a low C in this performance, in his song Stranger (also written by Igor Krutoy,) he goes down to a C2 note at one point. Thanks again for a great reaction.

Only in Russia could a live concert of singing and ice-skating be created and perdormed to such beguiling effect. The whole concert was ravishing, and although staged in honour of Maestro Krutoy's 65th birthday, he put Dimash centre stage as its leading star. It's very sad to think that this concert, from 2019, could probably not take place in 2022. Lara Fabian has collaborated with Igor Krutoy frequently in the past, and given many concerts in various cities around Russia, as well as at the Kremlin. I assume she would not consider performing there now until Ukraine is free of occupying forces, there is no threat of further military action and sanctions have been lifted. Krutoy is an extremely wealthy oligarch, reputedly worth $13 Bn, and has extensive business interests in the Russian music and entertainment industries. He has enjoyed cordial relations with Putin in the past, who has honoured him for his contribution to Russian culture. He is also Ukranian by birth, from Haivoron, a small town in the West of Ukraine, about 170 miles south of Kyiv. He owns several phenomenally expensive apartments in NYC, and both his current wife and their married daughter live permanently in the US. So I cannot that he is an enthusiastic supporter of Putin's venture into the land of his birth. This will be as difficult time for artists who have been associated with the Russian Government, and Putin in particular, in recent years. Kazakhstan was one of the Soviet satellite states until the collapse of the USSR, and since independence, strong political and cultural ties with Russia have continued. A bit too strong, many think. Kazakhstan does not have a functional democracy, its first president and dictator was a Soviet appointed in 1990, and remained in office until 2019. On relinquishing office, the nation's capital, Astana, was renamed after him: Nur-Sultan. His successor, Tokayev, has maintained close ties with Moscow, and in January, Russian troops came to his aid to help put down massive public demonstrations, after an increase in gas prices inflamed simmering discontent with decades of corruption and inequality in the country, which also has a poor human rights record. Dimash issued a carefully worded plea for peace at the time on Instagram, only for his account to go offline for several days, for reasons that have never been explained. He was one of the few Kazakh artists to make any comment on the protests. Dimash is enormously popular in the Slavic world. He first came to international notice in 2015 at the Slavic Bazaar, held in Belarus, which is now Russia's only remaining ally in Europe. President Lukashenko, who is little more than Putin's puppet, and a nasty bastard, is pictured in the video of Dimash's 2018 Slavic Bazaar performance of SOS. With Krutoy, he has performed at the Kremlin theatre, and for Putin, as well as at New Wave in Sochi, a festival that is produced annually by Krutoy. At his recent concert in Dubai, he spoke with evident disgust about the situation in Ukraine, before singing his own composition, War and Peace for the first time since March 2020 - his final pre-Covid concert, which ironically was in Kyiv. So, it's a difficult time for Russian artists, as well as those that have significant ties there. Putin's invasion has been a strategic disaster, as well as humanitarian one, and the sanctions will be felt in Russia and elsewhere for a long time, no matter how long the war lasts. Putin cannot be seen to lose, so unless someone in the KSB slips some some poison - which he richly deserved, given how much he loves using it on other people - then he will grind out this conflict for a long time. Maybe Dimsh, Lara and Aida could perform again together in Europe - Aida Garufillina is currently a principal artist with the Vienna State Opera in Vienna, and has a recoding contract with British label Decxa. However, other prominent Russian singers have had engagements cancelled by leading venues in the West: e.g. Anna Netrebko, probably the most celebrated soprano of the current era, has had her contract with the Met in NY cancelled over her support for Putin. So Aida may soon be obliged to make a difficult decision if she wants her career in the West to continue. Human lives are more important than concerts and TV shows, or they ought to be. Neverthless, artists often suffer, or are used as political pawns in times of conflict. At the height of the cold war there were many defections to the west by Russian performers, the ballet dancer Nureyev probably being the most famous. Cultural ties can being the world together, as Dimsh himself has already shown, early in his career. Unfortunately, they are one of the casualties of geopolitical standoffs. It's particularly egregious that Russia's vast and peerless contribution to world culture - which cannot be overstated, no other nation can come close to the breadth and depth of its artistic archievements - once again threatens to be overshadowed by the political and military ambitions of yet another of its authoritarian rulers. Putin must be stopped, however, his actions in Ukraine cannot be allowed to succeed without severe consequences for the rest of the world. It's a great burden for the Russian people to bear, and they are the ones who stand to gain the most if he is removed from power - depending on who succeeds him of course. I hope artists in Russia will make their voices heard on the right side of history. Slava Ukraini!

Dimash's Instagram was actually dead for 2 whole weeks after his plea for peace during the Kazakh riots made even harder because he was in China at the time. He followed up his speech in Dubai with an Instagram post stating that the lives of people should not be destroyed by crazy presidents. Unfortunately he had to hide that post due to his Ukrainian concert director then making another post of a photo of Putin with the words Crazy President directly underneath it. His whole concert in Dubai was nearly derailed as all the Ukrainian side of his team were trapped in Ukraine including musicians, stage management, technical staff his whole dance team and all of his stage costumes. They worked miracles with the concert considering the issues they had.

If Igor Krutoy is an oligarch, then Simon Cowell must be one too. Getting wealthy by your own smarts and skills and oppotunities isn't what an oligarch is, in fact, it is the exact opposite. Also, premiere of a new compsition by Krutoy for Dimash at the Kremlin was pulled from the program 2 days after invasion. I think it shows their stance.
