Dimash kicked off his latest world tour in September with a concert in Kazakhstan. It sold out to 35,000 capacity. Thousands of those flew in from 68 different countries. The concert was unbelievable, lasting almost 4 hours with Dimash singing 31 songs and included the Kazakh orchestra, ballet, modern dance troupes, holograms and 70ft screens. For those of us who couldn't travel that far Dimash has uploaded the whole concert to his KZbin channel in 3 parts.

He started study at 5, continued for 23, writing his PhD thesis in composing and back to back degrees while simultaneously maintaining a successful performing career filling up arenas around the world. If i make a remark that seems to lessen him and then put "still..." something positive follows like still wow, still amazing, still speechless etc. For the other to fill in. But haven't The Beatles or Rolling Stones or Queen or some Korean Boy bands reach that amount as well? That's why I said solo artist. In fact I expected wayy higher number! Even though remarkable, I don't think 10 million fans has to do with his PhD or film school. That's mostly his voice and persona on and off stage.

This show was the first time that Dimash had been away from home for any extended period of time and being in a foreign country with language barrier (only an interpreter) he began to get homesick, and the producers saw this and called his family. His father then came to be with him. Since then, he has never traveled without some member of his extended family being with him.

This program was attended by well-known and popular singers with great achievements in albums and concerts. The rule was to sing other people's songs, but differently from the original performer. Dimash performed Vitas's song. Vitas sings it gloomily, as if to scare, which fits the lyrics. Dimash performed it cheerfully, joking with the audience, which actually fit the lyrics as well.

Thank you so much for reacting to this beautiful version of Opera 2. I thought you already reacted to Dimash, but I couldn't find the video. Maybe I'm wrong. Dimash is such a wonderful person. This was the second performance of The Singer competition in 2017. The song is in Russian. A language he speaks fluently. I think it was very difficult for him at the beginning. You have to imagine, until this competition in China in 2017 he never was alone. Dimash, like many other Kazakhs, has the tradition of living under one roof with the whole family all together. He lives with his grandparents, parents, a sister, a brother an other relatives in the same house. And now he had to go to China alone, didn‘t know the country, didn‘t know the language, didn‘t know the traditions or livestyle in this country and up to that point he spoke (almost) no English, except maybe „Thank you“ and „My name is Dimash“. Only one interpreter came along and that at the age of 22. He was almost a kid to me then (my son is 19 so I can imagine…). And after that performance he saw his dad. Indescribably beautiful and emotional. During the Opera 2 performance, you saw him flirting with the audience in a way that wasn’t really his habit at the time (fortunately that has changed in the meantime). And afterwards he said that he was really uncomfortable that his father saw him like that🤭. Luckily he didn’t find out until afterwards because I love it when he’s like that on stage🥰. Many video of his are very emotional. You can't stop crying. But that's ok. That happens to many of us. And you were right, this was not his highest. Every song is surprising. You never know what comes next. Please react next to Olimpico from his Arnau concert. In this song he sings in Italian. You can find it on Igor Krutoy‘s Channel. He is a famous Russian/Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter. He has come out of retirement to work with Dimash. You’ll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano. The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It’s more like a father/son relationship. Olimpico is another masterpiece that Igor Krutoy wrote especially for Dimash’s vocal skills. This song and this performance is my absolute favourite🥰. I think this version is the best, because his performance is so intense, powerful and breathtaking. The light show, the background dancers. Everything. With this song in this version I have gasping breath all the time. The way he represents himself on stage, the hand movements. I think he has incredibly beautiful hands🤭(and apparently many cameramen think so too, since many of the camera shots during his performances very often only show his hands. Sometimes it seems as if he is conducting himself. This is really fascinating). And the facial expression, the look. There he looks so demanding and so bossy😱 (I hope it‘s the right word). There he is such a Beast😳! It’s absolutely stunning. Gasping and racing heart and I’m not even talking about him singing. Oh wow I’m starting to rave again…🤤 Sorry but I can’t help it🥺. In his song Unforgettable Day at Gakku, wait until near the end. He not only breaks glass, but he sings to dolphins : kzbin.info/www/bejne/q2aViXefoctpaJo Vitas from Russia is the original singer. As the other contestant said, Vitas only raised that note once, Dimash did it four times. The audience warmly welcomes Dimash not only because they already know him and love him, but also because the song "Opera-2" is very popular in China, as is its author - singer Vitas. When the project managers convinced Dimash to sing "Opera-2", he said that he would sing, but half a tone higher than Vitas, and at the end he would sing two notes higher. And he kept his word completely. Moreover, Dimash sang the song not on behalf of a depressed person like Vitas, but as an ordinary young man reflecting on life. Heya, Mat & Chels, thanks for this Dimash reaction, and welcome to Dimash World. I've been watching a lot of Dimash performances and reactions for 3 or 4 years now, & I am always glad to see new people discovering him. I believe he's the best singer currently on Earth. (Yes, that's a pretty strong claim, but I honestly don't know of a single solid competitor.) If you hang around a while & see more of his work, you'll see what I mean. Buckle up! It's gonna be a wild ride. Mat, you're right about Dimash being able to go much higher. Check out his "Unforgettable Day" (Gakku) for the clearest illustration of that fact. In the past year or so, though, he's also extending his range *downward* quite a lot. Check out his "Stranger" for that. :) Chels, you noted the girl fanning herself. I amuse myself occasionally by captioning in my own mind some of his audience reactions. My mental caption for that girl is, "Hey, I'm ovulating tonight. Come on over!" It's a bit mind-boggling for me to try to imagine how that must be for Dimash, but it seems to be something he just grew up with. Funny, eh? :) Anyway, thanks again for your reaction here. You showed my favorite part! Kanat and Dimash embracing. They are a very close family and they actually have a family motto. "The Family Where Love Reigns" In his most recent concert, he was joined by his younger brother, Mansur who is 16 and a composer. Dimash is currently 28 and 6'3" tall and Mansur is is now almost as tall as Dimash. The song is about a guy who built a house and now lives all alone and sad in it ...listening to the howling of the wind outside ... This song belongs to the Ukrainian- Russian vocal clown Vitas. However, they forgot to ask Vitas. The people who hold the rights sued Chinese TV... unfortunately too late. The Chinese had already put it online and so it is on the Internet forever. * Dimash sings Opera 2 in a funny TV show (2015 or 2016) (subtitle) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYPbgHyhr698n9k Vitas (Vitaly Vladasovich Grachev, *1979 Latvian SSR is a Ukrainian- Russian pop singer who mainly sings in Russian. He is also a composer, actor and fashion designer. The jury consisted of 500 spectators who knew music, not just your average "Joe". They were well screened to be sure they would be able to judge the musicians fairly and competently. With up to 1 billion people watching this TV program and international interest was aroused. The performances were uploaded to KZbin ... and so we became Dimash's Dears. The Chinese organizers planned... but Dimash came, sang and stayed ... for the next 3 years in China ... but he only finished second in the competition because he is not Chinese (conditions have changed: 2018, Jessie J. won). This is one of my favorite performances of Dimash. I get emotional on almost ALL my Dimash reactions. It's an experience, that we are lucky enough to be able to witness! I had never heard this song before, but the fans left me comments about the "original" singer & composer of this song "Vitas". Insisting I go check it out. So, I did. There is some controversy, but I think it's very safe to say that Dimash did it better! "Vitas" lip-synchs it in the videos I watched, also, in the Original, Vitas only does 2 vocal scales, where Dimash does it 2 additional times, going much higher, and of course, PITCH PERFECT. So much so, that after Dimash's performance, Vitas wrote to the show and DEMANDED that Dimash NEVER SING IT AGAIN! I wonder why? lol. Enjoyed your reaction. Yo soy fanático de Dimash, pero quiero contarles que acá en Argentina teníamos un cantante al que quizás no conozcan porque no hacía promoción por ningún medio, pero sus dos últimos conciertos fueron en un hipódromo de Tandil 300.000 a 400.000 mil personas y segundo en Olabarria 500.000 a 600.000. EL INDIO SOLARI sus fans asistían de todo el país. Sus canciones eran en metáforas, porque estaban dirigidas a dictadura militar que sufrió nuestro país esos años.
