It was as good as a native speaker’s. It shows how much of a perfectionist Dimash is and how many hours he must have spent on his pronunciation and delivery. In addition, Goro Matsui, who wrote the lyrics to “Ikanaide” praised Dimash’s performance and said: “I’ve heard ‘Ikanaide’ sung by foreign singers in their native language many times, but this is the first time anyone has sung it so beautifully in Japanese. I happened to find Dimash singing “Ikanaide” by chance. The first thing that surprised me was his crystal clear tone and his expressiveness voice that conveys the lyrics of the song. Interesting, someone else posted lyrics and they are not even close to the same, lol. This one actually makes more sense, but apparently it was used for a Japanese TV show? Maybe they changed the lyrics for the show...Curious!

@@TheSpeakEasyLounge There are at least 2 songs with the same title. Most likely the other person posted the lyrics to the other one by mistake. This song was used as the title song for a Chinese-Japanese TV series Farewell, Lixianglan, about a Japanese woman Yoshiko Yamaguchi (12 February 1920-7 September 2014) born in China and accused of being spy and put on trial but eventually was set free and went to Japan, living a long and peaceful life. In 1993, Hong Kong singer Jacky Cheung adapted it into Mandarin with the meaning of the song different from that of the original. He called it Late Autumn / Autumn Strong. Dimash the Mandarin version (Autumn Strong) when he participated in the 2017 The Singer competition in China. He sang it in the Episode 4 of the competition and it was his first time singing Mandarin.

Dimash has training in Music Theatre, but he also is such a natural actor, it all feels so genuine, he doesn't put on a show of emotion, he just allows his true feelings to show... This is most definitely one of my favourites. I saw you clutch your heart near the end. Those last parts are heartstopping. When he stops the sung phase and it's like one's heart carries on over the cliff when he stops, and then that hum ... And again the last "missing note" replaced by hands in reverence... This is sung in Japanese. The first time we've heard him sing in this language, which makes it the 13th language we've heard him sing in, I believe. Japanese is the original language of this song by Koji Tamaki. You might remember his performance of Autumn Strong from the Singer 2017. Same song, except he sang that in Mandarin.

You said this song should be a back track for a movie. Many years ago I was watching a movie with Richard Greer and Winona Rider. They were walking through Central Park in the Fall. This was playing in the background. I didn’t know what it was or the name of it. When Dimash sang Autumn Strong on Singer, I was shocked. I remembered the melody from that movie. On Singer, Dimash sang the Chinese version with different lyrics. The lyrics talked about the falling leaves. He’s singing in Japanese in this one. I think I like this version the best. I don’t remember any sound tracks for movies but I remembered this one. I thought it was so sad…I still do. Dimash talks with his whole being. The song is in Japanese. I've watched a couple of Japanese reactors videos of this and they were amazed at how perfect his Japanese language was in this song. The song is the original version of the Chinese song "Autumn Strong that he performed on "The Singer 2017." This was live-streamed from his recording studio for the Tokyo Jazz Festival 2021 due to Covid restrictions. It is pronounced I-ka-ni-e-day and this video did have cc for Eng. subtitles. I watched the composer of this song, Koji Tamaki video of this song, and I have to say, Dimash has hi-jacked another song for his own. Dimash can cover any song and make it his own, but, I do not think anyone could cover a Dimash song and do it better.
