Great reaction! The people in the "Green Room" are his competitors. If you will notice in every video, especially as the show progresses, they actually are cheering for Dimash. That's how much respect they had for his humble personality. Of course, in the early stages, you can see their fear of him, but that soon changed to supporting him. The others sitting in the lounge are his competitors. It’s fun watching their reactions. I just found your first reaction and you are in for a real treat. Dimash is the best singer I’ve ever heard. He never sings any song alike. You will hear new things every time. Even if he sings the same song, he will make changes. I came across Dimash on You Tube while he was on the Singer contest in 2017. You may know this but he won the first round of this, singing SOS. He’s from Kazakhstan, singing in a Chinese contest(doesn’t speak any Chinese), his first song was in French(he doesn’t speak French)and he won the the first round. He’s learning English and working on Chinese. He says Chinese is very hard. He speaks Kazakh and Russian. Dimash sings in about 10 different languages. On Singer he sang in French, Chinese, English, Italian and Kazakh. Just keep going. It gets better and better. He’s also a great guy. Loves his family and his country. If you listen to an interview with him, he is so shy. He becomes another person when he goes on stage. Enjoy. Bev

You are right Albert he still only spoke less than about 6 words of English at that time and yet he learns these English songs. There are people that tend to rag on his English but he really did so well with it!!! 💜🤗💜 He has been working hard on improving it over the last 3 yrs 😊. Loved your reaction!! Keep going on your journey. When you get to a couple songs in The Singer " Daybreak" and " Autumn Strong". Please go to Gloria Wu's channel and watch these songs with the back stories and english subtitles first. THEN you should watch later performances (like the Bastau concert for Daybreak). Knowing what he's singing about first really helps with the emotional aspect of the songs. 💜💙❤💛

There were 14 episodes and he did 13 performances as he was chosen to skipped 11th episode as he was in top 3 position and first 3 performers had to skip that episode, I think l made myself clear😜😜😜 Yes, they are competitors and the 500 members of audiences are the judges choose by voting.

Yes, the people being shown in the back room/stage are his competitors. In case you weren't aware the show is a competition for established professional singers. This show was primarily for Chinese performers and this was the first time they had a non-Chinese singer on the show. After Dimash was on the show in 2017 they started opening up the competition to other non-Chinese singers starting in 2018 with a notable contestant by the name of Jessie J. who won the shown in 2018 and Dimash did a guest performance with a cover of Lionel Richie's "Hello".

Not accurate. In previous seasons they invited some non Chinese too.....from South Korea (The One - 2015, Hwang Chi Yeul - 2016) and Malaysia (Shila Amzah - 2014).......after 2017 they invited singers from Bulgaria, Philippines, UK, Russia... In many seasons they have many foreign Chinese....namely from Malaysia, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong.

he is still learning english at this point in time (2020), but when he sang this song, he didn't know much english at all and learned the words phonetically, which is why some of the words might sound awkward. still an incredible performance and just shows his talent and determination.

Hey Albert and Cynthia--Just some info that you may find helpful. You can google "The Singer 2017 wiki" and track the schedule of the competition he was invited to. Plus if you haven't already--you can check out Dimash's wiki for additional info. I like checking out different reaction videos posted on youtube -- sometimes the better voice coaches can clue you in on the kind of technical stunts that Dimash has done and how difficult they are to perform. I like in particular Mike Goodrich, Emi Pellagrino, Nina Schofield, It's me Barry, and many more. All of these people are performers and the ones I've recommended strike me as people who care about their craft/work. This last remark is for those who have time--all of the episodes of The Singer 2017 are on youtube and you can watch each one (about 14 episodes). I haven't watched all of them but if you try...find the episodes that have English subtitles. I found some Chinese singers that I try to find other songs that they have performed. ****After posting I saw that somehow I crossed out the first two lines, that was not intentional. Sorry.
